DevOps Engineer (Student Position)


Note: This is a Student Position starting in January 2024 with the option of either a 4 or 8 month work-term. We have the flexibility for this position to be based out of our Toronto, London, or Winnipeg office.

 

Reporting to the Senior Technical Lead, the DevOps Engineer Student will enable the transition to continuous and high velocity delivery and automated deployment using cloud based software provisioning while focusing on configuration management and source code management to enable the business to produce products faster and more efficiently. The DevOps Engineer will enable and empower development teams across multiple business areas through the demonstration and development of best-in-class tools and processes.

 

What you will do 

  • Collaborate with DevOps engineers to define initiative deliverables and be accountable to design and deliver modern solutions that are secure, compliant, cost-efficient, and meet technical, security, and business needs
  • Learn and collaborate with the team on the DevOps and CI/CD frameworks
  • Proactively identify areas of friction in current deployment processes and drive technical solution s to remove impediments
  • Work with stakeholders, partners, and consumers to identify existing services to transition to new digital stacks to meet modernization goals
  • Ensure all functional and non-functional requirements are met and measurable in all environments
  • Ensure alignment and adherence to enterprise technology, vendor management, and risk standards
  • Collaborate with DevOps Engineers to troubleshooting and resolution of complex problems to determine root cause and possible solutions, requiring identification and analysis of appropriate courses of action
  • Work with customers to recommend iterations of practices, processes, methods and standards to improve customer outcomes

What you will bring 

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelors’ degree in Computer Science and/or Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Ability to build and maintain collaborative stakeholder relationships across multiple geographies and business functions
  • Ability to effectively communicate high-level concepts and solutions with technology and business teams
  • You value simplicity and are unafraid to challenge technical constraints to utilize an iterative and agile approach
  • Strong knowledge of infrastructure solutions, specifically in relation to cloud programs, platform migration, system security, enterprise directories, and cloud technologies
  • Knowledge of integration technologies such as API Gateways, Service Mesh, Eventing, Enterprise Service Bus
  • Experience working with technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, Ansible or other Infrastructure as Code ( IaC ) tools
  • Expertise with CI/CD tooling such as Git, Jenkins, SonarQube, Nexus, Vault etc..
  • Experience working with at least one of the major public cloud providers (Azure, GCP or AWS) and a willingness to continue to expand your knowledge
  • A self-starter with the ability to comfortably operate in ambiguity
