Automation Test Developer, Co-op

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Automation Test Developer Co-op to join our QA team. In this role, you will contribute to the development and maintenance of automated test suites for browser-based and data-driven applications.

We’re looking for someone who is detail-oriented, organized, and eager to learn. You communicate clearly, ask thoughtful questions, and know when to ask for help. You’ll be supported by a knowledgeable team of QA Analysts, Senior Analysts, and a QA Manager, all committed to helping you learn, grow, and succeed throughout your co-op experience at CARFAX Canada.

• Employment Status: Full-time temporary.
• Job Type: Hybrid – In office with flexibility to manage your work schedule with up to 8 days per month to work from home.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Quality Assurance (QA) Manager, the QA Analyst / Automation Test Developer (Co-op) will support the QA Team in delivering high-quality, fit-for-purpose products and services that meet the needs of our business and customers. You’ll actively participate in the software development lifecycle (SDLC) within an agile environment, applying QA best practices through test planning, exploratory testing, and impartial reviews of technical deliverables.

Position Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts using C# and Selenium WebDriver.
• Implement and execute test cases for web applications and data validation scenarios.
• Utilize testing frameworks such as NUnit and MSTest to structure and manage test execution.
• Develop Feature files using the Gherkin language and BDD (Behavior Driven Development).
• Collaborate with QA analysts, developers, and product owners to understand requirements and ensure test coverage.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement of test automation practices.
• Document test results, defects, and provide feedback to the development team.
• Assist in integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
• Communicate test progress, results, and other relevant information to the team, project stakeholders, and management.
• Use established QA processes and best practices.
• Log, track, and resolve product defects and make recommendations for improvement.

Position Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related program.
• Strong programming skills in languages like C#/Python/Java
• Familiarity with Selenium WebDriver for browser automation.
• Experience or coursework involving NUnit, MSTest, or similar testing frameworks.
• Understanding of software testing principles and QA methodologies.
• Ability to write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Strong critical thinking skills with a customer-focused mindset.
• Experience with software development and testing in an Agile environment is an asset.
• Experience with accessibility, API, automated, mobile, or performance testing is a strong asset.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively in a team-oriented environment.

Compensation

At CARFAX Canada, we believe in fair, transparent, and equitable compensation. This role has an hourly wage range of $22-$26 CAD.
