Linux Intern
Location: Remote Canada
Reports To: Manager, Open System Service

The Role:
As a Linux Intern at Autodata Solutions (a division of J.D. Power), you will design, implement, operate, and maintain our Linux servers, which support software applications for some of the world's largest automotive companies. Over 30 years, we have grown to be one of the biggest software companies in London and we are proud to partner with Western University as the largest local supporter of the Computer Science and Software Engineering internship programs.
The Impact You Will Have In This Role
We are hiring 1 Linux Intern to join our team of Linux Administrators. During your 16-month internship at J.D. Power, your Team Lead and other mentors will help you grow your skills in multiple system technologies including: Kubernetes, Docker, Git and many other new and exciting technologies Join our DevOps team to launch your IT career and refine your abilities in monitoring, back-up and recovery procedures, performance tuning, implementing system change management and more.
What You'll Be Doing In This Role
As a Linux Intern, you will:
- Facilitate system administrator tools &processes such as: boot/shut down of Linux system
- add/remove user accounts, use backup programs, add a server to a network, administer routing &remoteaccess services, etc.
- Interact with team members to explore, investigate, and implement requirements as they apply to Linux
- Troubleshooting system and application issues
- Write scripts in several administration languages (csh, sh, ksh, bash, perl, python)
Qualifications Of This Role
We are looking for:
- An unbridled passion for technology and an ability to get things done
- Experience working with the Linux operating system (preferably Ubuntu or Centos)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience with configuration management tools a plus (i.e. Git)
- A natural ability to work as part of a team and a love for fast paced challenging environments
