Manager, Technology Risk


We are looking for a Manager, Technology Risk.

As part of the 2nd line of defense, you will work with a team of risk professionals to ensure that our business identifies, assesses, and mitigates key technology risks. You will assess, prioritize, and track risks and will work closely with stakeholders across all three lines of defense to manage risks through a consistent and collaborative approach.  You will leverage your strong communication and interpersonal skills to build and sustain strong relationships where you are viewed as a valued partner that offers sound guidance and demonstrates a deep understanding of the technology and business environment.

 

What you will do 

  • Provide independent challenge and value-add observations on operational risks in the technology organization including technology risks, regulatory compliance risks, vendor/supplier risks by reviewing inputs and outputs of risk assessments, risk indicators, internal event/root cause analysis, information security assessments, technology control testing results
  • Form an independent view of operational risks in the technology organization including technology risks and regulatory compliance risks that can form the basis of reporting to the Canada Chief Risk Officer, Canada Chief Compliance Officer, and other senior executives
  • Leverage strong data and analytical skills to perform detailed research to produce risk insights for distribution to various internal audiences.
  • Assist with technology risk related regulatory examinations and communications, conduct reviews to identify possible risks and monitor the implementation progress of the remedial action(s).
  • Provide guidance on the management of technology risks by maintaining an industry view of the broader technology and risk landscape, including emerging technology trends
  • Promote a culture of risk awareness and the importance of sound operational risk management practices to effectively manage risk.

 

What you will bring  

  • 2 – 5 years of experience in operational risk focused on technology (application and/or infrastructure architecture, cyber security, cloud computing etc.)
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Strong Understanding of technology risk regulatory environment and industry best practices (COBIT, NIST, ISO standards, etc.)
  • Experience in key technologies such as cloud computing platforms (Azure, AWS, Google) , Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence
  • Ability to use data to identify risk trends/themes and exposure to data analytic tools (Tableau, Alteryx etc.)
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple activities simultaneously under tight deadlines
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills to translate risk assessments into business impact
  • Constant learner and passion for technology and risk governance
  • Demonstrated capability to build and foster strong relationships through collaboration, influencing change, and building consensus
  • Experience with ServiceNow GRC or other GRC platforms is an asset
