We’re actively searching for our next team member for the position of:
Manager, Brand & Communications
As a member of our team, you will Oversee TMI’s brand strategy and reputation management across all touchpoints to drive coherence and unlock competitive advantage. Includes brand development, governance, and activation.
Responsibilities Include
People Management
- Ensure staff have clarity of expectations through the delivery of objectives and understanding key deliverables
- Maintain schedule and established time standard compliance for all staff, i.e. by organizing and directly supervising staff, administering leave, monitoring, responding to staff headcount requirements, etc.
- Treat employees fairly and equitably, have a sense of self-esteem, and are encouraged to develop to their full potential, i.e. by administering workplace policies and programs
- Support employee development, i.e. by evaluating performance, providing feedback, and supporting their growth
- Manage employee issues to enable employees to have a high degree of focus on their jobs, i.e. by resolving employee relations issues, performance problems, and disciplinary issues
Brand Strategy
- Partner with leaders across the commercial team (Sales, Portfolio, MarComm) to understand key business priorities and how brand and communications can enable them
- Define goals and targets to accelerate commercial success using brand and communications (e.g. sales enablement, brand loyalty, customer experience)
- Manage the brand strategy and architecture of Trudell Medical International and its product brands to ensure coherence and long-term success
- Lead new brand development for all new products, including purpose, promise, positioning, verbal identity and visual identity
- Lead the organization’s communications strategy, crafting plans to deliver compelling editorial pillars and key messages across audiences and channels that advance the organization’s business goals
- Partner with Medical & Scientific Affairs, Regulatory, and Legal to ensure all strategies, positioning, and messages are compliant and reasonably manage risks
- Forecast and monitor budget, resources and tools/vendors required to deliver on ongoing brand and communication needs
Brand Governance
- Manage brand guidelines across corporate and product brands, and lead development of new brand guidelines as needed
- Lead brand training for all internal and external stakeholders, including new employees, creative partners, and distributors
- Ensure all branded tools, content, and training materials are kept up-to-date in the organization’s Digital Asset Manager (DAM) tool
- Oversee approvals for all new content and creative material development, providing coaching to internal and external content creators – including HCPs/KOLs - to meet content, trademark and brand standards
- Develop branded tools to enable efficient and consistent usage of the brand across regions
- Manage social media policies, including affiliation disclosures (influencers, employees), account access, and response protocols
Brand Activation
- Lead a team of brand and communications experts to effectively deliver brand relevance and business impact across the omnichannel experience, which includes packaging, online and offline content, events, and retail
- Oversee global campaign and core creative development, from brief creation through execution
- Copywrite/copyedit communication touchpoints, including press releases, web copy, ad copy, print collateral, social media and email content
- Oversee the development and execution of integrated media plans to deliver global campaign messaging at influential points across audience journeys
- Enable delivery, regionalization, and activation of campaign assets to key partners in local markets, including regional marketing, distributors, and associations
- Mobilize key partners in Product Management, Sales, HR, Customer Service, Legal, Clinical and Regulatory to drive consistent delivery of the brand promise
Measurement and Optimization
- Oversee research and insights to ensure brand health, reputation, and campaign impact. Includes feedback mechanisms with regional marketing, distributors, and associations.
- Oversee KPIs to ensure brand and communication strategy is meeting business objectives
- Champion continuous improvement to brand and communications as opportunities are identified
health & Safety
- Ensure compliance with relevant health and safety legislation, including the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, the Occupational Health and Safety Act, etc.
Qualifications
- Degree or Diploma in Marketing or a related field of study
- 10 years of experience in marketing or communications
- Experience leading and managing the performance of a team
- Experience managing creative agencies
- Exceptional business communication and influence skills, comfortable presenting to contributors and leaders at all seniority levels.
- Experience driving stakeholder alignment and organizational change an asset
- Exceptional writing, editing and storytelling skills
- Expertise in integrated media; retail media experience, including planograms, an asset
- Proven ability to train and coach, including creative professionals
- Experience managing decentralized (global-local) teams, including agencies and distributors. Understanding of global cultural nuances an asset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office [Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook] and Canva; Adobe Creative Suite is preferred
