The City of London attends many public events between the months of May and August. The City’s display trailer and materials contain both general environmental outreach information and customized information designed for the event. The display trailer is staffed with a minimum of two people and may involve others depending on the size of the event.
The Outreach Intern will have the responsibility for coordinating and delivering environmental outreach campaigns at these events with the goal of engaging the general public and encouraging active participation in our programs. The Intern will work closely with experienced City staff. Events could be small (a couple of hours) and cover one of two environmental subjects or could involve multiple days and events covering a broad range of environmental subjects.
A portion of the job involves the creative aspect of developing new approaches to public education and outreach. Testing approaches and benchmarking the results to investigate alternative engagement strategies (e.g. “gamification” of environmental messages).
