We are seeking a detail-oriented Clinical Research Professional to support data collection and entry, participant screening and consent, sample coordination, and adherence to study protocols. This role also assists with study start-up activities, database management, and communication with investigators and participants. The ideal candidate has a related undergraduate or graduate degree, clinical research experience, strong organizational and communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a health-care environment.

 

Rate of Pay: $26.01-$32.51

 

Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week

 

Duration: 1 year contract (potential for renewal)

 

 

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Data collection and data entry into electronic data capture systems from participant health records

     

  • Adherence to research protocols and ensuring studies are conducted accordingly

     

  • Study participant screening, enrollment, and consent

     

  • Study sample coordination (as per established processes)

     

  • Study administrative start up duties, in collaboration with broader research team

     

  • Liaising with principal investigators and co-investigators, as well as other researcher team members to support administrative responsibilities related to studies (ex. Support continuing ethics renewals, study amendments, study updates to research team)

     

  • Database development and management for clinical study data and samples

     

Qualifications

 
  • Successful completion of a recognized Undergraduate or Master's degree in a relevant and/or related field

     

  • Minimum of one (1) year recent and relevant clinical research experience, preferably with experience confidentially handling patient data and coordinating patient samples

     

  • Able to handle multiple projects simultaneously, able to work under pressure, and have the flexibility to adjust to changing schedules and deadlines

     

  • Ability to organize workload and manage daily competing priorities in a health care environment 

     

  • Ability to collect and process biological specimens (e.g. blood, urine) is an asset

     

  • Previous experience with Cerner Powerchart and REDCap is an asset

     

  • Previous experience reviewing the literature is an asset 

     

  • Working knowledge, or ideally prior experience, in Human Research Ethics, Tri-council policy, Good Clinical Practices, Health Canada and FDA regulations an asset 

     

  • Ability to review patient data and extract relevant study data points for study data entry

     

  • Previous experience in completing informed consent discussions is an asset

     

  • Effective communication skills to foster a respectful, inclusive and collaborative environment with individuals from other disciplines (i.e. patients, investigators, scientists, clerical staff etc.)

     

  • Act as central point of communication for study participants

     

  • Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to the principles of patient- and family-centered care

     

  • Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC

     

  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
