Position Summary:

  • Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM or 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM with a 30-minute unpaid lunch.

  • This position is 100% on-site at the Adair site.

Reporting to the Supply Chain & Warehouse Supervisor, the Buyer will control the implementation of strategic procurement initiatives by managing MRP demand information in conjunction with assigned purchasing and inventory control responsibilities.  This includes packaging, raw materials and indirect procurement as assigned.

The Role:

  • Review and analyze daily MRP data for raw materials, packaging, and indirect requirements while managing purchase costs, procurement projects, and inventory value considerations. Respond to internal and external material demand fluctuations and supply disruptions, and maintain accurate master data, including re-order points, safety stock, and supplier lead times.

  • Liaise with internal customers to identify value addition opportunities and contribute to the strategic development of supply base management and company initiatives as required.

  • Reporting savings and process improvement throughout the organization.

  • Proactive development of competitive sourcing opportunities in all areas of assigned responsibilities (materials, equipment, supplies, etc.).  Perform cost and value analysis to support purchase recommendations/decisions.  Ensure Vendor Quality compliance/requirements are achieved.

  • Issuance, maintenance and follow up of purchase orders and MRP item master input and maintenance.

  • As directed provide KPI’s to site stakeholders (OTD, Stockout rate, LT accuracy, etc.)

  • Must be able to work extended hours, weekends as needed, especially when problems occur or when deadlines must be met.

  • Perform other duties as required.

The Candidate:

  • High School Diploma, GED/CAEC and/or educational credential assessment (ECA) is required. Post secondary accreditation in the fields of: Supply Chain Management, Customs, Logistics and/or Manufacturing is preferred.

  • 5 + years of experience in a manufacturing environment in roles such as: Buyer, Logistics, Purchasing, Material Planning and/or Customs required. Experience working in a food, pharmaceutical and/or GMP facility is preferred.

  • Currently Catalent participates in the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) on a limited basis.

  • Candidates with non-Canadian credentials must provide an evaluation confirming the Canadian equivalency of the credentials as determined by the Alliance of Credential Evaluation Services of Canada (ACESC) such as WES.

  • Experience in RFP procedures, quote analysis, PO issuance and contract management, demonstrated knowledge of Purchasing and contracting techniques and procedures and thorough knowledge of MRP database systems.

  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office I.e. Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point

  • Considerable knowledge of laws, ordinances, and regulations pertaining to corporate purchasing practices.

  • Strong writing skills for creating reports, correspondence, contracts, requests, bids, and other documentation, excellent communication and negotiation skills and ability to work independently.

  • Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills and ability to respond appropriately in pressure situations with a calm and steady demeanor.

  • While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is often required to sit and use their hands and fingers, to handle or feel and to manipulate keys on a keyboard. Use of manual dexterity is required. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, bend or twist, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision. There is also the potential exposure to chemicals.

Pay:

The final salary offered to a successful candidate may vary within this range $66,000 – $80,000, and will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to: the type and length of experience within the job, type and length of experience within the industry, skillset, education, business needs, etc. Catalent is a global employer, and this salary range does not reflect positions that work in other countries.
