Salary Grade:  N08        From:  $100,101.59  To:  $1125,127.00

This is a temporary assignment, up to 12 months, open to all offices. 

Job Summary:

Lead a high performing team in the research, assessment, design, development, execution and evaluation of talent and skills development programs across customer facing clusters to build capability and improve effectiveness and efficiency.

Performance coach and develop a team of professionals who are experts in designing learning experiences from the perspective of the employee.

Build trusting relationships with all stakeholders ensuring a results driven and continuous learning culture.

 

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  1. Lead and manage a team of direct reports:
  • Lead and manage assigned employees to achieve objectives, maintain high levels of customer service and quality. Assign work, set performance objectives and provide feedback.
  • Monitor individual and team performance outcomes in relation to established individual, branch and divisional objectives
  • Coach and mentor all employees to continually improve performance and capabilities in the midst of change. Provide development planning and opportunities to ensure maintenance and continuous growth in business acumen, workplace learning and knowledge and skill in current adult education, and instructional design methodologies.
  • Create a supportive and healthy working environment by ensuring effective communication, role clarity, promoting teamwork, collaboration and skills sharing so employees can learn from one another.  Recognize employee contributions and achievements. Assist and support employees as changes and new initiatives are implemented in the workplace.
  • Foster a constructive labour relations environment within the branch by dealing proactively and fairly with issues. Administer the provisions of the collective agreement.
  1. Plan and lead a high performing team to  assess, design, develop, implement and evaluate learning programs or solutions, products and services:
  • Provide direction and coaching in root cause analysis, skills gap identification, product design and development using leading methodologies such as Performance Consulting, Customer Journey Mapping, Usability Testing, and Design Thinking to improve the learner experience.
  • Guide a cross functional team in the researching, planning, proposing and influencing solutions aligned to organizational strategy and business needs.
  • Establish & continuously improve learning standards and processes through research, continuous education and best practices e.g., ensure eLearning quality standards remain current and aligned with internal and external best practices and or legislation e.g., AODA – WCAG 2.0 and all learning remains compliant with Privacy legislation.
  • Manage multiple projects and programs using project management principles including plans/schedules, budgets, communication plans, change plans and project team oversight.
  • Leverage data analytics to improve learning solutions and forecast trends to provide proactive advice/recommendations on continuous learning opportunities.
  1. Develop and maintain effective relationships:
  • Ensure the interactions we have with our customers are exceptional, personalized and are of the highest standards by developing a clear understanding of customer needs and championing them in the delivery of learning products to ensure business objectives are met.
  • Apply principles that help to maximize value and ensure an excellent customer experience.
  • Provide professional advice, opinions and best practice information on adult education, experience design (including online user experience), development and learning design principles and learning vendor management to all levels of management and project teams.
  1. Acquire and manage external vendor relationships to enhance the learning services delivered to the WSIB.
  • Work with Procurement to lead learning RFPs
  • Develop and manage vendor contracts and statements of work to ensure adherence to quality, scope, cost and schedule
  • Oversee the brokering of learning services, products and experiences between business clients, external vendors and learners e.g., curating learning content and connecting learners with on-the-job experiences.
  • Guide team members in the partnership with Vendor / Consultants and Service Providers to ensure successful collaboration.

 

Job Requirements:

  1. Education (Level and Specialty / Discipline):    
  • University Degree or equivalent in Education, with a focus on or additional certificate in adult education, instructional design, technology or eLearning.
  1. Experience (Years of Related Experience and Type of Experience):           
  • 5-7 years in a workplace learning role with adult education expertise, a minimum of three years in a workplace learning leadership role providing coaching and support to others
  • Learning vendor management (including eLearning development vendors) and design and development expertise creating or curating courses/videos/audio/ virtual classroom and online communities
  • Working knowledge of design standards such as AODA – WCAG 2.0, AICC/SCORM and Privacy
  • Project planning and management experience
  • Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships through all levels of an organization and externally
  • Strong interpersonal, influencing and negotiation skills
  1. Technical or Professional Qualifications or Certifications/Designations:
  • Understanding and application of adult learning and eLearning principles which may include a professional designation
  • Certification in Instructional Design, eLearning design and Training and Development. Designations may include CTS, CTDP or CPLP.
  • Project Management Professional Designation (PMP)
