Technical Lead Security Technology Operations
 

The Technical Lead, Security Technology Operations is part of the security technology team, providing technical leadership and hands-on skills to help deliver, manage day to day operational tasks and objectives.

 

This role focuses on promoting operational excellence, Lead and manage critical incidents, providing guidance and mentorship to the security technology staff.

 

This position report to the Manager, Security Technology Operations and is being offered in Toronto or London, Ontario and/or Winnipeg, Manitoba.

 

What you will do 

  • Lead incidents and troubleshooting, act as situational manager for critical incidents.
  • Act as an escalation point for the team during and after business hours.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Security Technology department focusing on security technologies, processes, procedures based on ITIL framework and best practices.
  • Vulnerability management: ensure vulnerabilities are identified and mitigated based on the company provided tools and reports.
  • Review and approve changes as part of functional change manager role.
  • Ensure SLAs are met (Incident/Problem/Change).
  • Develop reporting for operational metrics.
  • Ensure both external(vendors) Internal (other corporate teams) SLAs are met and reported correctly.
  • Be our data steward: create/review/maintain applications and systems data within the company’s ITSM tool on behalf of Security Technology.
  • Business continuity and Disaster recovery management: create/review/maintain Security technology’s business continuity plans and ensure continuous DR readiness is in place for all identified Security Technology’s services.
  • Operational improvements: identify gaps, suggest improvements, and promote automation opportunities within Security Technologies
  • Ensure adequate monitoring and alerting are in place for all security technology services.
  • Participate in fiscal planning for Security Technology by providing the necessary research, information, and recommendations
  • Mentor and train Security technology staff on the operational processes and procedures.
  • Drive a high-performance culture for staff and promote culture changes within the organization.

What you will bring 

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience
  • 3-5 Years of Knowledge and experience in Cyber security. Recognized certification (i.e., CISM, CISSP, CCSP or other industry recognized certificates) is considered an asset.
  • 5+ Years of Information Technology experience (i.e. Network engineer/server administrator, software development)
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Agile delivery experience/knowledge.
  • Knowledge and understanding of ITIL framework, certification is an asset.
  • Experience using Splunk and/or other similar tools.
  • Leadership skills: ability to mentor, coach and influence the team.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster relationships and build trust and proven record to work independently and deliver on commitments
  • Excellent communicator including demonstrated presentation and coaching skills and ability to breakdown complex concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
