Description

 

We are seeking a  new member to join our  IT Operations  as a  Senior Network and System Administrator.  The Senior Network and System Administrator reports to the Director of Infrastructure and Operations and is responsible for providing technical leadership and manage Infrastructure that includes network, voice, video and employee engagement services to ensure high levels of availability and security of all services.  This role also participates in the implementation of policies and procedures to ensure that system provisioning and maintenance is consistent with our company goals  culture  industry practices and regulatory requirements.  

General Responsibilities: 

  • Participate in and support capacity planning and the development of long-term strategic goals for all Infrastructure and Operations
  • Manage Data circuits  firewalls  routers  switches  voice  video conferencing  active directory  operating systems  cloud collaboration tools and employee engagement equipment
  • Ensure the integrity and security of data on host computers  databases
  • Manage end user accounts  permissions and access rights in accordance with company policies
  • Assist in network and security audits
  • Perform and test routine system backups and restores
  • Anticipate  mitigate  identify  troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software problems on all infrastructure - Escalate incidents as necessary
  • Support application development teams throughout assigned project life-cycles
  • Analyze system  server  application  network and input/output data to improve performance and identify problems
  • Recommend  schedule and perform software and hardware improvements  upgrades  patches  re-configurations and/or purchases
  • Conduct research on emerging products  services  protocols and standards in support of systems software procurement and development efforts
  • Participate in negotiations with vendors  outsourcers and contractors to secure software products and services
  • Develop  document and maintain procedures to insure performance and end user reliability of hardware is met
  • Provide training and guidance to peers and juniors of the Infrastructure team as a mentor
  • Respond to service desk tickets in a timely manner
  • Complete assigned milestones and projects by requested deadlines
  • Insure administration duties can be performed during your absence with no impact
  • Insure documentation is maintained and updated on all interfaces for trouble shooting issues
  • Be available after hours to perform scheduled or emergency maintenance activities

Qualifications:

  • College diploma or university degree in the field of Computer Science and/or 5 years equivalent work experience in multiple companies or industries
  • Strong technical knowledge of network that includes firewall, wireless, switching technology, server and desktop operating systems for Microsoft and Apple devices
  • Strong knowledge of Firewalls  Network gear  Microsoft server and cloud services with integration of Windows and Mac desktops 
  • Hands-on software and hardware troubleshooting experience
  • Experience with data management
  • Experience documenting and maintaining configuration and process information
  • Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws
  • Experience with Incident, Change, Asset and CMDB tools and supporting processes
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
  • Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills
  • Adept at reading  writing and interpreting technical documentation and procedure manuals
  • Ability to conduct research into hardware and software issues and products as required
  • Ability to present ideas and solutions in user-friendly language
  • Highly self-motivated and self-directed
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Skilled at working within a team-oriented  collaborative environment
