Position Summary: The Team Lead, Quality Assurance will oversee the testing of Cognition+ products to ensure adherence to industry and the organization's standards. They are involved in developing testing plans, creating risk mitigation strategies, and liaising with the product team in suggesting process improvements.

 

This position can be performed from our office in London Ontario, remotely in Ontario, or a combination of both.  Remote based employees may occasionally be asked to travel to our office for meetings or team building events.

 

Role Responsibilities:

  • Lead a diverse team of testers (manual, automated testing) in an Agile environment.
  • Managing Sprint activities including daily scrum, sprint planning, backlog grooming, work estimation.
  • Work with the QA Analysts of the assigned teams to ensure that adequate test coverage exists for new product features.
  • Ensure that test results are recorded / analyzed / reported.
  • Work with Business Analysts, Developers and Architects to determine and identify test scenarios.
  • Work with the developers/BA’s to identify, prepare and maintain test data needed for test execution.
  • Plan / document / execute / and automate tests.
  • Document / review / prioritize defects and other test results.
  • Find and document potential areas for improvement or efficiency enhancements within the product under test.
  • Configure, administer, and troubleshoot software test environments.
  • Work closely with Product Owners, Release Managers and QA Analysts to provide testing estimates / timelines.
  • Develop new methods to test new/existing product features.
  • Staying on top of current trends in the industry.
  • Coach team members on achieving goals and developing necessary skills that get results.
  • Assist with developing team members’ performance, offering feedback and demonstrating the desired skills and expected work ethic.
  • Conduct 1:1 meetings with direct reports and prepare performance evaluations.
  • Identify Team Goals and evaluate Team progress.

 

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • A technical college or university credential in Computer Science, Information Technology or another related area.
  • 3-5 years’ experience writing test cases, executing tests and developing test strategies/plans.
  • ISTQB Designation required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to lead in a demanding work environment and through changing priorities.
  • Advanced Problem solving skills including the ability to troubleshoot and identify problem areas throughout testing.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing testing methodologies, standards and best practices.
  • Deep knowledge of Agile methodologies.
  • Experience with implementation of testing concepts, metrics, automated testing frameworks and documentation standards.
  • Experience with data formats (JSON, XML).
  • Knowledge of industry trends.
  • Ability to adapt to new technologies / tools.
  • Advanced knowledge of Documentation / DevOps tools including Jira, GitLab, Jenkins, Confluence, Selenium, TestNG, Jmeter, Postman, Java.
  • Proven track record of testing web and mobile technologies including devices and browsers.
  • Ability to manage, mentor and train team members.

 

Additional Bonus Skills:

  • Prior experience working in the insurance industry.
