Data Transport Specialist

Location:                          Hybrid, with office in Strathroy and Sarnia  

Job Function:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and creative Data Transport Specialist to coordinate the flow of data across Mainstreet and our partners. You would maintain our existing connections among our banking applications, data lake, and operational tools, and build new connections to help improve strategic and operational decisions.

Responsibilities:

• Collect detailed vendor data integration requirements for seamless exchange with our SQL databases.
• Design, develop, and implement robust data transport solutions that facilitate secure and efficient data movement to and from external vendors and our SQL databases.
• Select appropriate data transport protocols, technologies, and tools, with a focus on SQL-specific mechanisms, to meet the unique requirements of vendor data integration.
• Streamline data transport processes to enhance performance, minimize latency, and mitigate risks associated with data loss or corruption.
• Create and implement data transformation and validation procedures to ensure the accuracy, consistency, and integrity of data during transit.
• Collaborate with cybersecurity experts to implement stringent encryption, authentication, and authorization measures, ensuring data security during transit.
• Proactively monitor and manage data transport pipelines, identifying and addressing potential disruptions before they impact operations.
• Document data transport processes, configurations, and solutions comprehensively to establish a knowledge base for future reference and sharing.
• Stay current on emerging technologies and trends in data integration, SQL development, and data security, and apply insights to enhance our Data transport strategies.

• Post-secondary graduate in Computer Science, Programming, or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience in roles such as Data Transport Developer, SQL Developer, or similar positions.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as PowerShell, C#, Python, or similar, with a focus on SQL scripting and database connectivity.
• Strong understanding of SQL databases (e.g., SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL) and the ability to write efficient SQL queries.
• Experience with data transport protocols, including SFTP, ODBC, and relevant APIs for SQL integration.
• Proficient in data serialization formats such as JSON and XML, as well as data transformation techniques with tools such as SSIS.
• Familiarity with network concepts, security practices, and authentication mechanisms relevant to data transport.
• Knowledge of encryption methods, authentication protocols, and authorization mechanisms to ensure secure data exchange.
• Familiarity with technologies such as SQL Server Reporting Services and Power BI is a plus.
