Manager, Research Operations will work as part of a highly motivated and experienced leadership group with a focus on establishing and optimizing internal research support functions such as approvals, contracts, grants development etc. The successful candidate will bring significant expertise in areas of research administration and will have the ability to influence the anticipated organizational structures, processes, and systems within the assigned areas of support. The goal is to create a compliant, supportive, low-barrier environment that permits the researchers to deliver on the mission of our organization and enhance the efficiency and throughput of high-quality research.
This role coordinates the effective utilization of resources and space, supports researchers by facilitating access to support functions, and collaborates with clinical leaders to integrate research with clinical care. Responsibilities encompass human resource management, ensuring adherence to safety standards, compliance with regulations, and overseeing budgetary and financial operations. Additionally, the Manager contributes to innovation and strategic planning, cultivates partnerships, and upholds the organization?s academic mandate while implementing best practices to foster a productive and safe research environment.
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor of Health Related or Science field
- 3 years of experience in research or health care plus
- 2 years of progressive leadership experience
- Knowledge of Safety Culture in the Health Care Setting in compliance with the OHSA
- Ability and commitment to act as a supervisor under OHSA
- Demonstrated experience in staff management and development.
- Comprehensive knowledge of research processes, core equipment, space requirements, compliance, and regulation.
- Values-based leadership and a proven track record for developing and sustaining healthy work environments and effective teams while leading in a performance-driven culture
- Recognition, understanding and demonstration of Emotional Intelligence (EI), particularly emotional self-awareness, assertiveness, optimism, stress tolerance and empathy, in a variety of situations
- Excellent organizational and project management abilities.
- Proficient in financial management and budgeting.
- Strong analytical skills that contribute to effective problem solving and decision-making.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to effectively work with diversity, appreciating that different opinions, backgrounds and characteristics can bring richness to the challenge at hand.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as a team player with ability to establish effective working relationships, both external and internal as well across various leadership levels.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality of privileged staff personal data.
- Excellent customer service and customer relationship management skills with excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Knowledge and expertise of research safety policies.
- Well-developed negotiation and conflict management/resolution skills.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain a fast work pace and manage multiple priorities with strict deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude.
- Ability to strategically plan and lead quality improvement and change initiatives
- Demonstrated willingness for self-development and growth.
- Masters level education in Science, Healthcare, Management or Business
- Proficiency in French would be an asset

As an employee of St. Joseph's, you will be expected to engage in role related teaching and research activities in addition to any of your clinical duties
- Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella, varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, COVID-19 and influenza.
- Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing
