Job Description
Mechanical Design Engineer
Q5X designs and manufactures professional wireless microphone transmitters and receivers for use in broadcast sports and entertainment. We sell globally; both directly and through our partner, Shure Inc. to sports leagues (NBA, NHL, NFL, MLB), broadcasters (ESPN, Turner, Disney), and reality TV productions (Big Brother, Love Island, Dancing with the Stars). Our team is comprised of engineers and designers who excel at delivering timely solutions to allow our users to capture audio in any environment. Position
The candidate will contribute to a small, cross-functional team designing the world’s smallest and most rugged professional wireless microphone solutions. Primary responsibilities and accountabilities include product design and prototyping, creation of mechanical drawings and specifications, design and documentation of manufacturing processes and testing procedures, as well as troubleshooting problems and root cause analysis. This is an in-person position at our London ON office, with flexibility to work from home as individual duties permit.

Requirements
- In-depth 3D CAD modelling experience (we use Fusion 360)
- Experience designing parts for a range of manufacturing processes
- Ability to prototype rapidly and design for low volume production
- A strong attention to detail & passion for building high-quality products
- Comfort working on a small team, in a dynamic environment, with a variety of skill sets
- Ability to solve problems analytically and creatively
Skills, Abilities & Qualifications
- Mechanical/Mechatronics degree/diploma
- 3+ years of relevant design experience
- Experience designing electronic enclosures & electro-mechanical devices considered an asset
- Experience performing static, dynamic, & fluid flow FEA considered an asset
- Experience with mold design considered an asset
- Working knowledge of material properties (metals, plastics, rubbers, silicones..)
- Working knowledge of GD&T
