We are looking for a Manager, Engineering (Senior) to join our Neighbourhood Developments team! The Senior Manager, Engineering is responsible for all aspects of project management including, engineering design, budget/financial to full construction of all developments with Sifton.  This position will work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure project construction is executed in a timely and efficient manner while maintaining the integrity of design and ensuring feasibility and costing of projects.

About the Role

  • Oversee total project management efforts from conception to successful execution in accordance with design, budget, resource allocation, and schedule.
  • Plan project scope with timelines, milestones, deliverables, and micro-deliverables utilizing software tracking tools and project management methods to identify any variances for reporting.
  • Direct and manage Engineering and Planning Consultants to obtain development approvals in a timely manner, including coordinating application, people and activities, as required and directed.
  • Conduct stakeholder meetings and forums to deliver instructions, outline expectations, solicit feedback, provide status updates, to manage expectations.and
  •  Assist the VP in the development and tendering of construction projects, from grading to site servicing to curb and gutter. Manage and monitor all engineering contracts as required and report on the schedule and actual costs of construction and correlate the approved budgets during the construction stages of subdivision development.
  • Advance projects from Draft Plan/Site Plan approval including management of all preliminary and detailed engineering drawings as required by the municipality to obtain approval, being attentive to the approved project schedule at all times.
  • Develop and manage budgets for all engineering related consulting engineers, including civil, and geotechnical engineers, landscape architects and surveyors, as required. Recommend payment of all engineering/construction related invoices and progress payments to the VP. 
  • Act as a field liaison between the various outside consultants/builders in connection with any required installation of municipal services, including any modifications to approved plans. Meet with the Land Technician bi-weekly to discuss and update on the status of construction and engineering approvals, to update the Senior VP where as needed or appropriate.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Minimum Diploma/ Degree in Civil Engineering Technology or other discipline at an accredited Community College, University. PEO registration preferred.
  • Minimum 8+ years’ experience in Engineering, Development and Construction activities
  • Strong budgetary and financial acumen to track project schedules with accurate costing models
  • Ability to work independently to move multiple projects along in parallel
  • Oversight to those on the team through mentoring and coaching through performance management
  • The ability to explain design ideas and plans clearly.
  • The ability to bring structure and organizational skills to lifecycle of all projects
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong project management skills, including the use of Microsoft Project or other Project Management Software. Computer proficiency in MS Office applications.
  • A comprehensive knowledge of relevant legal regulations.
  • A high degree of customer service orientation through strong communications with business partners and external stakeholders.
