Technical Director
Could you be our next “Mikutechnical” Director?
The game studio, Joydrop, and its serious sister company, Mikutech, are looking to add a versatile and well-versed tech guru who in turn is looking to add to the high-caliber firepower of our surging independent development studio. The TD will be the guiding force for our entire coding department and work shoulder- to- shoulder with the management team setting the technical tone for the entire studio. Joydrop has just recently
ventured into the land of “medium-sized” studios, so you’ll be expected to dwell in both high-level leadership and planning roles as well as occasionally showing your crew how it’s done in the coding trenches. You will be pivotal in establishing technical policies and practices as we grow accustomed to our new studio size.
Job Responsibilities
? Plan, oversee, and implement all technical architecture and process choices
? Supervise and participate in all projects regarding staffing, technology/tool choices, risk evaluation, and
inter-project dependencies
? Conduct research and innovate methods to define the technical aspects of a project
? Work closely with project managers, designers, and other directors in setting consistent technical
guidelines, recommending solutions, and approving plans
? Supervise the technical aspects of a project to find areas where product quality might be improved
? Manage programming teams
? Provide expertise in design, programming, debugging, and optimization
? Mentor less experienced programmers in the art of software and game development
? Develop high- and low-level code to extend engine functionality
? Maintain and add to existing codebases, and support pipelines and higher-level programmers
Required Skills and Experience
? Successful mentoring of junior programmers into intermediates
? 10+ years experience in C++ and/or C#
? Exceptional leadership, communication, and team management skills
? Shipped at least 2 Unreal engine games
? Proficiency in databases, preferably PostgreSQL
? Shipped multiple software projects of various technologies over the last 5 years and the main technical
lead on at least 2
? Spearheaded creation of the technical pipeline and all processes needed to deliver projects
? An almost obnoxious attention to detail for proper coding structures and conventions
? Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
? Agency/work-for-hire experience is a plus
? Experience with game design and alternative realities are a bonus
? An undying love for playing games
