Position Overview
As the Financial Controller, you will play a critical role in supporting the Vice President (VP) of Finance in managing the financial health of the company. You will be responsible for overseeing financial operations of our companies, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, managing cash flow, and maintaining compliance with accounting standards and regulations. In addition, you will assist in financial planning, analysis, and strategic decision-making to support the company's growth and agility. This position requires a proactive, hands-on leader who can adapt to evolving business needs and drive continuous improvement.
This position is open to internal and external candidates.
Product Line
This role will be working with all ASICS Apps products.
Work Location
The successful candidate for this role can be either a satellite employee (working 100% remotely from a designated location within Canada), or a hybrid employee (flexibility to work in the office or from home at a location within 75 km/45 miles from the London, ON office).
Responsibilities
Financial Strategy & Planning:
- Support the VP of Finance in developing and executing financial strategies to support business growth and operational efficiency.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to drive informed decision-making.
- Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning processes.
Financial Operations & Compliance:
- Oversee day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions.
- Ensure adherence to internal controls, policies, and regulatory compliance, including GAAP and IFRS standards.
- Assist in managing external audits, tax filings, and regulatory reporting.
- Implement and enhance financial processes and automation to improve efficiency and accuracy.
Financial Reporting & Analysis:
- Prepare and present timely and accurate financial statements, reports, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to the VP of Finance.
- Conduct variance analysis and provide actionable insights to drive profitability and operational improvements.
- Develop and maintain financial models for cash flow, revenue forecasting, and scenario planning.
- Maintain financial integrity by ensuring reconciliations and controls are effectively implemented.
Cash Flow & Risk Management:
- Monitor cash flow, liquidity, and working capital to optimize financial performance.
- Support the VP of Finance in managing banking relationships, cash management, and credit facilities.
- Identify and mitigate financial risks, ensuring the company remains financially agile.
Team Leadership & Development:
- Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of finance professionals, fostering a high-performance culture.
- Establish clear goals, objectives, and performance metrics to align team efforts with business priorities.
- Drive diversity and inclusion initiatives within the finance team, ensuring alignment with company values.
- Collaborate with People Ops on job description development, recruitment, and talent management within the finance function.
- Conduct regular one-on-ones, performance reviews, and employee development planning.
Technology, Internal Controls, & Process Improvement:
- Evaluate and implement financial systems and tools to streamline operations.
- Ensure compliance with regulations, and development and implementation of a robust internal controls system.
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations, audits, and financial reporting requirements.
- Drive digital transformation and automation within financial workflows to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Stay up to date with emerging financial technologies and best practices to enhance financial management.
Education & Experience
- 5-10+ years of public and/or progressive accounting experience or equivalent
- CPA designation required
- Strong knowledge of Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises and IFRS
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, with advanced Excel skills
- Experience with financial systems such as Sage Intacct (preferred but not required)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-tech work environment.
Bonus Education & Experience
- Experience with Sage Intacct is an asset

The successful candidate for this role will become an employee of Race Roster North America Corporation (doing business as ASICS Apps Canada), a subsidiary of ASICS Corporation, a Japanese multinational corporation. Race Roster was founded in London, Ontario in 2011.
