Job Description:

Summary:

The Executive Director, Information Technology, is accountable for the strategic leadership, implementation, and administration of innovative and effective IT systems across the College. This role ensures that technology infrastructure and solutions enable and support the College’s vision, mission, strategic framework, and goals.

The Executive Director leads the development and execution of a forward-thinking, solution-based IT strategy that supports academic, administrative, and business operations in a dynamic post-secondary environment. They ensure sound management practices are in place for the delivery and governance of IT services and solutions, promoting digital transformation and operational efficiency.

In alignment with the College’s emergency preparedness efforts, the Executive Director contributes to the planning, development, and execution of the corporate emergency plan, with a particular focus on IT-related emergency response and business continuity.

The Executive Director is responsible for fostering a culture of health and safety by establishing and following safe work practices and ensuring compliance with the College’s health and safety management system, as well as applicable legislation and regulations within the IT domain.

The College is committed to the safety and well-being of all staff, students and visitors.  In order to achieve this objective, employees are required to be active in health and safety and incident prevention by adhering to procedures and safe work practices as required by the corporate health and safety management system, and in accordance with relevant Health and Safety legislation and regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field is required.

  • Master’s degree in Information Technology, Business Administration (MBA), or related discipline.

  • ITIL certification, Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or equivalent cybersecurity certification preferred

  • 11 years progressive experience in information technology and increasingly senior/responsible positions in a complex work environment.

  • Experience managing multiple projects with competing priorities while keeping adequate operations support.

  • Extensive experience in the development and implementation of enterprise systems, architecture and processes that optimize and integrate technology at an enterprise level.

  • Experience with IT Governance structures and programs.

  • Leadership/ Administration: Highly developed presentation skills, demonstrated leadership capability, effective communicator and team builder.  Demonstrated ability to lead and manage change and launch and successfully manage major projects/ initiatives to satisfactory completion.

  • Human Relations: Must be able to plan, organize, delegate and evaluate work in collaboration with others. Must be able to effectively motivate and establish high performance teams and persuades and influences others to actively consider alternatives for change in order to achieve required goals or outcomes.

  • Must have a sound knowledge of computing and telecommunication technologies, information systems and services including a knowledge of network architectures.
