Description

Position Title: Senior Network and Systems Administrator

Department: IT - Operations 

Position Purpose

The Network and System Administrator reports to the Director of Infrastructure and Operations and will use your exceptional abilities to “shape the matrix” as you use your deep technical skills and leadership to deliver stable, scalable, and secure solutions.  Our team supports secure connections to vendors, data and voice circuits, network equipment, voice, video, cloud, SCIM and employee engagement solutions. 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Participate in and support capacity planning and development of long-term strategic goals 
  • Manage Data circuits, firewalls, routers, switches, voice, video conferencing, active directory, operating systems, cloud, SIEM, email and collaboration tools and employee engagement equipment.
  • Ensure the integrity, security and privacy of data on host, computers, databases
  • Assist in network and security audits
  • Perform and test routine system backups and restores
  • Anticipate, mitigate, identify, troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software problems on all infrastructure - Escalate incidents to vendors as necessary
  • Analyze integrations between server, application, network and input/output data to improve performance and identify problems
  • Recommend and implement software and hardware improvements, upgrades, patches, re-configurations and/or purchases
  • Conduct research on emerging products, services, protocols and standards in support of systems software procurement and development efforts
  • Participate in negotiations with vendors, outsourcers and contractors to secure software products and services
  • Develop document and maintain procedures to ensure performance and end user reliability of hardware is met
  • Provide training and guidance to peers and juniors of the infrastructure team as a mentor
  • Be available after hours to perform scheduled or emergency maintenance activities

Key Selection Criteria

  • 15 + years of hands-on technical experience providing leadership that includes design and implementation in multiple companies or industries with demonstrated excellence.
  • College diploma or university degree in the field of Computer studies is an asset
  • Expert technical knowledge of network that includes firewall, wireless, switching technology, server and desktop operating systems for Microsoft and Apple devices
  • Expert troubleshooting skills
  • Knowledge of compliance programs (ISO, SOC, NIST, etc.) data privacy practices and laws.
  • Experience with Incident, Change, Asset and CMDB tools and supporting processes
