Senior Lead (Resilience and Recovery Analyst)
 

The Resiliency and Recovery Analyst is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive IT Resiliency and Recovery strategies and plans for Canada Life.

This role ensures the organization's preparedness in the form of an exercise or test to recover critical systems and operations in the event of a disaster.

Conduct program maturity assessments, identifies gaps, and works closely with cross-functional teams to point out risks mitigation and assist in recovery strategies development.

This position requires strong analytical skills, technical abilities, and effectively collaboration with stakeholders at all levels. 

 

What you will do 

  • Contribute to the evolution of Canada Life’s technology operations management strategy and resiliency model
  • Support the development and maintenance of resiliency, recovery strategies and plans to ensure the Canada Life’s ability to recover critical systems and operations.
  • Assist in the establishment, support, and streamline regulatory and related technology risk reporting, dashboard, and metrics (KRIs, KPIs, etc.)
  • Conduct resiliency and recovery maturity program assessments and application impact analyses to identify potential gaps and prioritize recovery efforts.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to confirm the validation of recovery objectives, RTOs (Recovery Time Objectives), and RPOs (Recovery Point Objectives) for critical systems and processes.
  • Orchestrate Exercises and Tests and validate disaster recovery plans regularly to ensure their effectiveness and make necessary adjustments based on test results.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to ensure the proper configuration and operation of backup systems and data replication processes.
  • Provide guidance and support to cross-functional teams during disaster recovery exercises ensuring timely and effective response and recovery.
  • Monitor industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in disaster recovery to continuously improve the organization's preparedness and response capabilities.
  • Document recovery procedures, processes, and policies, ensuring they are up to date and accessible to relevant stakeholders.
  • Conduct training and awareness sessions for employees to enhance their understanding of disaster recovery plans and their roles during recovery efforts.
  • Work on and manage recovery orchestration tools, understanding and knowledge (ServiceNow and Fusion)

What you will bring 

  • Bachelor's degree or college diploma in information technology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in disaster recovery planning, implementation, and management.
  • Strong knowledge of disaster recovery methodologies, technologies, and best practices.
  • Proficiency in conducting risk assessments and business impact analyses.
  • Familiarity with backup and replication systems, data recovery tools, and cloud-based disaster recovery solutions.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify vulnerabilities and develop effective mitigation strategies.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Experience in conducting disaster recovery tests and exercises.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards related to disaster recovery (e.g., OSFI, ISO 22301, ISO 27031).
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
