Start.ca is searching for a forward thinking Fibre Network and OSP Director to help drive the company’s fibre network vision and its implementation, while setting the stage for future growth. This role will oversee the planning, infrastructure construction, maintenance services and installations for our fibre optics network.

Reporting to the Vice-President of Operations, the Fibre Network and OSP Director is responsible for growing and leading the already established and high performing fibre network teams (Planning, Fibre Optics Engineering & our London Fibre Network division) to build upon core applications that scale and serve Start.ca’s critical business and technology functions. You will coach and mentor teams in alignment with Start.ca’s core values, to ensure that a high-performance environment is sustained for the effective delivery.

The Fibre Network and OSP Director will recommend objectives and establish operating procedures to create and maintain financial soundness and profitability while ensuring exceptional service to customers. This established leader will direct project planning, budgeting, and assist with business plan development. 

The successful candidate should have a degree or diploma in construction, engineering or a related field. Ideally with a minimum of 5-10 years of experience in the telecommunications industry with fibre optics, telecommunication architectures, and utilities (outside plant) coupled with 5 years of direct managerial/supervisory experience.  

Possessing a unique blend of resourcefulness, flexibility, and adaptability. This individual and big picture thinker will have a track record of developing, implementing, and maintaining an infrastructure network. Previous experience building and implementing a business strategy as well as having a sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and vendor management is key.

The successful candidate will be a hands-on, collaborate team-player with excellent communication skills to cultivate an engaging and progressive work culture that will drive a big-picture vision into reality and propel the business forward. Finally, the successful candidate will understand the city and municipality PAW process and be proficient with CVOR requirements.
