Media Specialist
 

What is a Media Specialist?

The Media Specialist will act as media planner and buyer for GoodLife’s local, regional and national campaigns. The Media Specialist will develop and execute campaigns that align both traditional and digital media selections with the key identified media and business objectives in such a way as to maximize advertising exposure, impact, cost-efficiency and ROI for the company.  The Media Specialist will have a solid grasp of the traditional and digital media landscape in Canada, excellent communication and people skills, the ability to work in a fast-paced, highly retail environment and strong organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail.

 


What will you be doing?
 

  • Work with our internal and external partners to manage GoodLife’s day-to-day media buying and planning execution to drive ROI and business outcomes
  • Analyze the digital and traditional media market and make recommendations as to how to best allocate the advertising budget. Plans typically include analysis and recommendations on targeting, geography, scheduling, support level and budget.
  • Identify the key media and communications objectives for local, regional and national campaigns as required
  • Provide industry knowledge and expertise to the organisation on best practices, emerging trends and new media strategies
  • Act as a subject matter expert in PPC marketing, responsible for strategy and best-practices to drive improved performance, supporting all strategic marketing and business efforts
  • Stay in the know of the latest trends and eCommerce tactics for advertising platforms such as Google Ads, Bing Ads, Facebook Ads, etc
  • Utilize planning and buying strategies to obtain best possible rates, positions and other added value.
  • Ensure all digital and traditional media creative requests are briefed, with run dates, deadlines, ad specs and creative delivery information.
  • Send out approved ads to media suppliers and enter into platforms as required
  • Re-evaluate and/or renegotiate media buys based on new audience data or other changes in the marketplace to maintain or enhance audience deliveries
  • Ensure that the invoices reflect the contracts. Resolve any invoice discrepancies and approve media invoices for payment.
  • Communicate with current and potential media partners on an ongoing basis to be aware of changes in the media world that may affect GoodLife’s buys/plans and in order to keep up-to-date with media industry research as to audiences, circulations, readership etc.
  • Stay abreast of digital industry trends, business opportunities and best practices.

Do you have what it takes?
 

  • University Degree or College Diploma in Marketing, Advertising, Communications or Media Studies an asset
  • 3+ years working in media, either within an agency setting or in media sales
  • Comprehensive understanding of marketing and media concepts, research and terminology
  • Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills
    Excellent numerical, analytical and research skills
  • Well organized, with a high level of attention to detail and thoroughness
  • Superior communications skills – written, verbal and presentation
  • Strong reporting and budget management skills
  • Ability to assimilate information quickly
  • Ability to prioritize and work well under pressure with competing deadlines
  • Ability to negotiate
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Demonstrates creativity and problem-solving skills
  • Self-motivated and solutions-oriented
  • Interested in continuous learning and professional development
