About Us

Classroom Technology Services, as part of Ivey’s Information Technology team, provides audio/visual support to the Ivey community, ensuring Staff, Faculty, and Students can effectively use the technology in the learning environment. CTS Staff support major events in the school ensuring all building AV Technology is functioning and available, and is as easy as possible to use. The staff install, maintain, upgrade, replace, and monitor all systems to ensure reliable operations.

Responsibilities

The Media Technician provides effective and efficient audio/visual services for the Ivey Business School through the implementation, maintenance, and use of a variety of software and hardware technologies. The role provides first and second level technical support and training to faculty, staff and students to enable them to incorporate media into the classrooms, meetings, and presentations. The Media Technician performs routine maintenance, installation and set-up of audio/visual services and proactively monitors equipment for repairs and upgrades. Working as part of the Classroom Technology Services (CTS) team, the role enables the possibilities of learning, fundraising, community awareness, and promotion through visual storytelling via video production, following and adhering to current trends in video production in order to promote and maintain the school's high-quality image.

Qualifications

Education:

  • 3 year Community College Diploma in Audio/Visual/Media and communications, digital media arts, graphic design or related field

Experience:

  • 2 years’ experience in audio/visual installation, troubleshooting, setup, and configuration
  • 1 year experience supporting enterprise-level Crestron based AV Systems
  • 1 year customer experience

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Familiarity with Audio/Visual equipment and software, classroom technology and videoconferencing including enterprise-wide Crestron AV systems which may include Digital Media switchers, transmitters, processors, touch panels and Graphics Engines
  • Demonstrated experience interfacing Crestron devices to 3rd party devices from other manufacturers including but not limited to Epson, Samsung, Biamp
  • Excellent troubleshooting ability along with hands-on expertise and experience supporting Crestron systems
  • Verbal and written communication skills with an ability to document technical information
  • Ability to investigate defined issues, solicit input, and suggest remedies and alternative approaches that meet the needs of the situation
  • Ability to apply active listening to hear and understand the complete message being communicated
  • Ability to establish rapport with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to maintain a positive, outgoing attitude with genuine customer service orientation
  • Ability to process information with a high degree of accuracy, and follow formal business practices with high attention to detail

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint (with slide aspect ratios, converting slides to images, formatting/embedding video, projecting using Mac or Windows and using presenter mode) and Excel (with pivot charts/tables and formula creation)
  • Professional integrity and an understanding of privacy and security rules as per Ivey and University policies preferred
