Mechatronics Engineer
 

Position Summary

A Mechatronics / Electro-mechanical Engineer who performs a variety of engineering, design, and testing/verification assignments supporting Engineering and Product Development initiatives for fluid treatment equipment. Working as part of a cross discipline team in a collaborative environment, you will be involved in many aspects of the product lifecycle. Products developed will directly impact water quality globally.

 

Accountabilities

  • Carry out assignments of substantial variety and/or complexity requiring a sound understanding of related engineering or scientific theory, principles, and practices
  • Write engineering specifications and test protocols
  • Produce professional design drawings and documentation
  • Build rapid prototypes of product concepts to illustrate design concepts
  • Coordinate with outside machine shops and vendors to provide custom parts
  • Integrate controls, sensing, and mechanical hardware into a functioning system
  • Test prototypes for functionality and performance
  • Formulate and implement improvements based on test results
  • Act as a technical resource to other departments
  • Support and trouble shoot vendor hardware and firmware issues as required
  • Participate in lab tests, field tests, and pilots
  • Participate in design reviews to offer ideas and recommendations from tests performed
  • Implement final design through the organization, working with other functional areas
  • Candidate could be involved in stages of embedded lifecycle – inception, requirements, design, implementation, testing, documentation, delivery, improvement and support of software and hardware

Qualifications

  • B.Sc. in Mechatronics Engineering. Up to 5 years of related work experience preferred.
  • Ability to work both independently and as a productive member of a team.
  • Working knowledge and experience in mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and controls design
  • Experience reading circuit schematics and troubleshooting electrical circuits.
  • Creativity, problem solving, and attention to detail
  • Experience developing laboratory or machine automation software
  • LabVIEW software – 2 years’ experience preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in using SolidWorks CAD software. Strong computer skills are an asset
  • Ability to learn new tools and technologies quickly
  • Hands on skills like soldering and using basic hand tools.
  • Basic machining skills are an asset
