Responsibilities

The Graphic Specialist (Multimedia) provides effective and efficient multimedia design services for various stakeholders, ensuring that Western Libraries is represented in an artistic and professional manner through web, video and other media production. The Graphic Specialist (Multimedia) will support creation and ongoing digital communications for the Weldon Revitalization Project, and will build Western Libraries’ capacity for video and other digital content.  The incumbent is also responsible for coordinating logistics for filming, editing and producing videos for various print materials, websites and social media channels.  The Graphic Specialist (Multimedia) will conceptualize and design custom and original project ideas for a variety of media, from inception to completion, which includes working with unformulated ideas and developing them into creative and on-brand graphic assets for Western Libraries through video filming, storyboarding and production; editing and producing final videos for YouTube, social media, websites and/or presentation purposes; and designing website and social media graphics.  

Qualifications

Education:
-   3 year community college diploma in graphic design, visual/digital media arts or related field

Experience:
-   2 years of experience with graphic design and multimedia/digital production

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
-   Knowledge of graphic related peripherals (such as scanners, digital cameras, video recording and producing software)
-   Expertise with computer graphics software for both print and web application (e.g. MS Office, Adobe Creative Suite, Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, LiveCycle, Premiere Pro, After Effects, Audition, Media Encoder, Wordpress, and HTML), archival and compression software
-   Demonstrated skills in video recording and manipulation and experience formatting video and digital content for social media
-   Excellent troubleshooting ability along with hands-on expertise in technical support
-   Verbal and written communication skills with an ability to document technical information
-   Ability to investigate defined issues, solicit input, and suggest remedies and alternative approaches that meet the needs of the situation
-   Ability to apply active listening to hear and understand the complete message being communicated
-   Ability to establish rapport with people from diverse backgrounds
-   Ability to maintain a positive, outgoing attitude with genuine customer service orientation
-   Ability to process information with a high degree of accuracy, and follow formal business practices with high attention to detail
-   Ability to multi-task and maintain an organized and effective personal work environment
-   Adapts readily and effectively to changing priorities and demands
-   Ability to work independently and effectively as a member of the team to achieve department goals
-   Familiarity with Western policies and guidelines preferred
