We are looking for a Data Platform Engineering Specialist 

 

Given the size and scope of our organization, we have the flexibility for this position to be located in the following head office locations:Toronto, London or Winnipeg. 

 

Role description 

We are looking for a Data Platform Engineer who is experienced in Azure data and analytics offerings with proven track record of designing, delivering, and supporting cloud data solutions to enable business outcomes.

 

Experience:

  • Extensive knowledge working with Azure cloud ecosystem and toolsets including (but not limited to):
    - Cloud Storage (e.g. ADLS, Blob)
    - Automation (e.g. Azure Data Factory, Azure Machine Learning Pipelines)
    - Data Transformation (e.g. Databricks, Synapse)
    - Data Governance (e.g. Collibra, Purview)
    - AI/ML integration with different types of data (e.g. structured/semi/unstructured) in interactive and batch mode
  • Experience with setup, configuration, and maintenance of automated machine learning platform like Azure Machine Learning and associated platform maintenance
  • Demonstrated operations knowledge/experience related to day-to-day support of advanced analytics and/or machine learning platforms (e.g. Azure Machine Learning PaaS setup/configuration)
  • Demonstrated operational experience in performing installation and upgrades to cloud ecosystem toolsets
  • Experience with setup, configuration, and maintenance of Azure Kubernetes and associated platform maintenance
  • Experience with Docker Desktop, creation, maintenance of docker file images (e.g. application of security patches), and promotion to Azure Container Registry environment
  • Experience with Prisma Cloud environment (formerly Twistlock) for scanning Docker images
  • Good DataOps and MLOps understanding and implementation experience surrounding data pipeline and data science model operationalization and support (i.e. build/promote/maintain data model pipelines) including performance monitoring and scaling
  • Comfortable working with industry-standard CI/CD tools (e.g. Git, Azure DevOps, Nexus)
  • Demonstrated operational experience with support of end users and technology platforms for advanced analytics
  • Strong background in Unix and Windows integrated environments
  • SQL skills to understand complex queries and optimize them for performance across large volumes of data
  • Technical data analytics experience with a variety of RDBMS (i.e. SQL Server, DB2 LUW and zOS) and non-relational systems (i.e. semi-structured and unstructured data)
  • Exposure to data visualization ecosystem like Tableau and Power BI, both on-premise and cloud implementations
  • Communication and presentation experience with proven track record of using insights to influence executives and colleagues
  • Passion for continuously learning new technologies

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Enable stakeholder groups to use data and analytics platform effectively
  • Operationalization of data science models and other data products
  • Monitor data platform performance and availability in a 24x7 production environment
  • Assist end users to troubleshoot AI/ML model errors and model execution issues
  • Advance the maturity of the technologies and operations by automation and process improvements
  • Collaborate with business partners and other specialists to ensure that the tools and technology platform can support the analytics requirements.
  • Provide technical guidance on platform maintenance including integration with other existing solutions deployed in the enterprise
  • Effectively communicate technology platform changes to stakeholder groups
