As Director, Technical Solutions, you are accountable for leading digital engineering squads to build and improve digital solutions, capabilities and customer experiences in alignment with Canada Life digital and technology roadmaps. You work closely with business, design, architecture and engineering teams across the organization to ensure the solutions meet functional requirements and non-functional, engineering and compliance specifications.
You maintain a high degree of technical and business acumen for your products and provide thought leadership that contributes to evolution of the Canada Life roadmaps and the architecture and overall lifecycle of digital solutions.
What you’ll bring
- Technical direction and oversight for creation of solutions and delivery of products within your portfolio, optimized through deliberate choices aligned with Canada Life digital and technology roadmaps, including the principles of ‘One Canada Life’ user experience & digital ecosystem, re-use, and technology risk
- Drive best practices and ways of working for application development, integration, code management, deployment and solutions documentation and ensure adoption and adherence by engineering teams
- Collaborate to advance core platforms, optimize full stack integration, drive automation and engineering improvements that will accelerate delivery, increase quality and reduce maintenance and change fail rates
- Drive a high-performance culture for staff and promote culture changes within the organization
- Build strong and trusted relationships with internal and external partners
- Focus on continuous learning and professional development
- Drive an agile mindset within the team centred on progress and advancing the digital mandates
- Ensure effective and efficient use of financial and people resources
- Identify and invest in opportunities (processes, training, systems) to enhance individual and team effectiveness
Who you are
- Post-secondary degree/diploma in computer science or an equivalent combination of training and experience
- 6+ years' experience in engineering/technology leadership position leading multiple teams with many competing priorities
- Proven experience delivering applications, integration or engineering solutions following an SDLC
- Experience in Salesforce Experience Cloud and / or Adobe Experience Cloud and / or a similar SaaS / PaaS cloud environment
- Solid understanding of the following is an asset:
- Salesforce Industries, Visualforce and Lightning Web Components
- Application integrations and an understanding of API architecture and design
- Adobe Experience Manager
- CI/CD tools such as GitLab, Jenkins and BitBucket
- ITSI and ITSM applications for monitoring and reporting
- Drive results and change processes to improve performance; create a culture of accountability
- Have a bias to action
- Ability to use knowledge of industry, business and systems to solve business problems
- Solid understanding of delivery enablement techniques such as automated testing and automated deployments
- Strong understanding of industry best practices
- Proven ability to develop and maintain collaborative business relationships
- Able to pivot and quickly change direction in response to changing priorities
- Experience coaching and mentoring technical practitioners
- Strong communication, collaboration and relationship building skills
- Experience working in financial services industry an asset

The base salary for this position is between $92,100- $170,500 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).
