We are looking for a Senior Portfolio Analyst.
The Senior Portfolio Analyst will analyze project portfolio delivery processes and drive process improvement to improve alignment of delivery to business objectives. The successful candidate will be expected to take a leadership role in supporting strategic priorities of the Technology PMO and the Technology Strategy & Transformation Office. The ideal candidate for this role will lead current state assessment, act as a project delivery expert, build a strong relationship with business partners across a variety of teams, and be effective at communicating change.
We’re looking for an individual that is a self-starter, constantly looking to improve the portfolio and is not afraid to explore creative problem-solving techniques. Working with TPMO leaders, the role will be responsible for managing an evolving set of business priorities to improve delivery practices, supporting tools & reporting, business partner and customer experience, business efficiencies, and business differentiation.
What you will do:
- Leading quantitative analysis and strategic problem solving: conduct industry and competitive research, internal business reviews & data analysis, and interpret results. Act as a resource for project delivery practices (current and future vision) and the health of the project portfolio.
- Delivering effectively in a collaborative environment: own meaningful parts of project workstreams and ensure a high level of quality in all required analyses and presentations. Lead with an ownership mindset while working and collaborating in a great learning environment with TPMO team members, business and technology leaders and their teams.
- Advising and influencing business partners: develop options, assess benefits and trade-offs, and arrive at recommended actions to project delivery problems/opportunities. Prepare and deliver compelling written materials and verbal communications; build relationships and establish trust with senior leaders.
- Supporting the wider TPMO team: lean in where needed on strategic projects and priority work. Monitor the project portfolio, to identify/anticipate opportunities or challenges for Canada Life. Work with the
- Project Delivery Life Cycle team to develop delivery process changes, and with Clarity and Data Analysis colleagues to develop the tools and dashboards to support those processes.
- Understand business and technology challenges and find opportunities for ‘out of the box’ solutions
- Establish strong working relationships with delivery teams that enable collaboration and transparency
- Proactively identify and resolve issues that may impair the organization’s ability to meet its strategic, financial, and technical goals
What you’ll bring
- Extremely detail-oriented, excellent understanding of how technology products are delivered and able to anticipate future roadblocks and help mitigate delivery risks
- 5+ years project delivery and/or project portfolio management experience, ideally across multiple industries such as retail, manufacturing, financial services, etc.
- Demonstrated ability to work with senior leadership on the development and delivery of process changes, data analysis, and supporting tool changes, building plans and managing progress reporting which provide visibility of work in progress
- Track record of collaboration and influence when working in cross-functional teams, ability to resolve tensions, lead, and foster collaborative relationships,?engage and inspire the right outcome through partnerships and mutual respect
- Structured and analytical planning approach; design appropriate work-back schedules to drive effective implementation
- Experience in risk assessment and management techniques
- Experience with Broadcom’s Clarity Strategic Portfolio Management platform preferred but not essential
- Understanding of insurance and financial services industry preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience is preferred

The base salary for this position is between $63,500.00 - $117,400.00 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).
