The Role

As a member of the QA team, you will have the opportunity to work closely with other talented members of our team to support, maintain and ensure quality for a complex insurance software system. You will create test plans, write manual test cases and execute manual tests. You will have the opportunity to work on a variety of tasks and develop your skills in many ways.

This position can be performed from our office in London Ontario, remotely in Ontario, or a combination of both.  Remote based employees may occasionally be asked to travel to our office for meetings or team building events.

 

Role Responsibilities 

  • Perform various types of QA software testing including, but not limited to, manual functional web usability, system integration, regression, cross browser compatibility, ADA compliance, backend database validation and mobile application testing.
  • Find and Document software Defects in JIRA including concise and detailed steps for duplication of issues found and assist with prioritization and resolution.
  • Work collaboratively with project team to communicate testing progress and status, prioritize and track defects to closure, discuss project updates and issues to ensure appropriate follow through to resolution.
  • Develop detailed test cases, ensure that tests cover all features of the system (happy path and edge cases), and ensure the complete requirement coverage.
  • Work with the developers/BA’s to identify and prepare test data needed for the test execution.
  • Review and analyze functional requirements to ensure that requirements are testable.

 

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • A technical college or university credential in Computer Science, Information Technology or another related area.
  • Min 1 year Prior experience in a Quality Assurance role using Agile.
  • Experience working in a team based environment on teams of various sizes and composition.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and analytical thinking.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, etc.).
  • Good organizational and time management skills with an ability to complete multiple concurrent assignments.
  • Experience in Functional testing, System testing, User Acceptance testing and Exploratory testing.
  • Intermediate knowledge and experience in software testing processes, quality controls, methodologies, and standards.
  • Ability to adapt to new technologies / tools.
  • Knowledge of current industry trends.
  • Knowledge and experience in agile project methodologies, such as scrum.
  • Knowledge of documentation/defect tracking tools such as JIRA, Confluence.
  • Basic knowledge of SQL queries and automation tools.

 

Nice To Have

  • Prior experience working in the insurance industry;
  • Industry related Professional Certification in Insurance or Software Quality (ISTQB, CIP)
  • Accounting experience is an asset.
