Product  Director 
 

Start.ca is looking to add a talented Product  Director to our team.  The Product Director will work with the Start Executive Leadership team and be responsible for developing and improving products and delivering customer success. In addition to market and customer research, insights will be to improve pricing models and develop marketing strategies and manage product and feature introductions.

The Product Director will be responsible for the financial analysis and growth recommendations of the product line. Along with the responsibilities and requirements specific to this role, the Product Director is expected to abide by and encourage Start’s Code of Conduct, helping to strengthen our trusting and positive work environment.

What you’ll be doing:

 Determine customers' needs and desires by specifying and managing research.
Recommending product lines by reviewing product specifications and requirements; appraising new product ideas and/or product or packaging changes.
Assessing market competition by comparing the company's product to competitors' products.
Improving product communications and content.
Accelerating sales and market share by working with sales to develop sales strategies.
Assessing product market data by interfacing with customers.
Working with the executive team to prepare product sales forecasts and special reports and analyses.
To work directly with both internal and external engineering and product development teams to bring the solutions to market.
Bringing new products and features to market by analyzing proposed product requirements and product development programs; preparing return-on-investment analyses; establishing time schedules with engineering and manufacturing.
Introducing new products by developing time-integrated plans with sales, marketing, and production.
Determining product pricing by utilizing market research data; reviewing production and sales costs; anticipating volume; costing special and customized orders.
Create, maintain, and communicate product roadmaps; track and report on roadmap progress and manage timelines.
Manage the entire product line life-cycle from strategic planning to tactical activities to individual product P&L
Establish, monitor, and report on product performance to the organization.
Partner with product owners to create user stories, user personas, user scenarios, user cases, and detailed product requirements; prepare clear, well-defined business requirements and user stories based on customer and product needs.
Develop and implement go-to-market plans in coordination with the Marketing team from product positioning and pricing to support and distribution.
Act as the SME for internal and external product communication.
Conduct competitive research to determine new market opportunities and positioning strategies.
Accountable for implementing and improving vendor management through strategic planning, deep industry knowledge, trend insight, and continuous evolution.
Work alongside the Sales and Development teams to develop and maintain product vision, strategy, and road map; keep all stakeholders informed and up to date.
Introduces and markets new products by developing time-integrated plans with Sales and Marketing.
Manage third-party data and software relationships necessary to support market needs, in addition to being responsible for product changes, negotiations, promotions, etc.
Write technical white papers and assist with generation of marketing materials and social media marketing.
Ability to support Start.ca’s product portfolio with an emphasis on TV.
Other appropriate responsibilities relevant to the role today as the role may evolve.

What we’re looking for:

MBA, Degree/Diploma in Business, Information Technology, Engineering, a related program of study, or equivalent experience.
Proven work experience in product management
Proven track record of managing all aspects of a successful product throughout its lifecycle
Proven ability to develop product and marketing strategies and effectively communicate recommendations to executive management
Solid technical background with understanding and/or hands-on experience in software development and web technologies
Strong problem solving skills and willingness to roll up one’s sleeves to get the job done
Proven success working on a fully remote and interdisciplinary team
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Experience working in both Waterfall and Agile development environments.
Proven success in effectively managing multiple projects within a fast paced, ever-changing environment.
Able to communicate complex, detailed concepts to diverse audiences in a concise, compelling manner both verbally and in writing.
Extremely collaborative with proven experience partnering with diverse stakeholder groups to deliver impactful business outcomes.
Able to manage and coordinate the end-to-end development process while meeting deadlines and budget requirements.
Strong critical thinking, analytical and coupled with the ability to act quickly and make pragmatic decisions.
Strong organizational, presentation, and negotiation skills.
Prior experience with TV is considered an asset.
Multimedia space experience is considered an asset.
Project management experience is considered an asset.
