 Assistant Controller

 

JMP is currently looking for an Assistant Controller to join our finance team. JMP is the initial step in a strategy of acquiring smaller automation integrators with a goal of building a $1 billion in revenue integrated solutions provider. Our financial sponsor, Crestview Partners has announced a $200 million total investment.

 

This role will be responsible for assisting in the financial operations of the business. You will manage the Accounts Payable function of the finance department, oversee Collections, and assist with month end close.

 

This is a fantastic opportunity to gain experience and exposure in private equity, and sharing best practices, while helping build a market leading global automation solutions provider.

 

What would a typical day look like?

  • Assist with month end close, including but not limited to balance sheet reconciliations, preparation of supporting schedules, journal entries, accruals, P&L analysis, and financial statement preparation support
  • Management of project-based percentage of completion ledger including maintaining the associated business processes
  • Manage Accounts Payable function
  • Credit terms management and setup
  • Oversee collections and manage exposure risk
  • Manage the company’s credit card program
  • Work with Controller to maintain and execute financial controls
  • Support the year-end process, including working papers preparation and annual audit
  • Manage Federal, Provincial, and State remittances (HST, PST, Sales & Use Tax, etc.)
  • Help drive department KPIs and ensure deadlines are met by supporting department areas as required
  • Help drive continuous improvements in finance and accounting areas (streamline processes, enhance performance, reduce manual workflow, etc.)
  • Support the implementation of system or business projects
  • Other ad-hoc duties as required

 

What qualifies you for this opportunity?

  • Post-secondary education in accounting or finance
  • CPA Designation or in process of completing designation
  • Minimum 4 years requisite experience in accounting or finance department, preferably in a similar role or with exposure to multiple department areas
  • Experience with Percentage of Completion accounting required
  • Thorough knowledge of Canadian Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Knowledge of US GAAP considered an asset
  • Highly proficient in Excel and the Microsoft Suite of products
  • Proficiency in ERP systems, and experience with Deltek Vision considered an asset
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and manage competing and changing priorities within a fast-paced work environment
  • Self-starter with very high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to effectively problem solve and build relationships
  • Willingness to work extended hours
