POSITION TITLE: Developer (Full-time, Permanent)
POSITION REPORTS TO: Manager, Software Architecture

JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for the translation/conversion of project requirements and statements of problems/procedures into detailed logical flow charts for coding; to write/adapt code to store, locate and retrieve documents, data and information; to perform initial and periodic tests for program reliability, validity and efficiency; and maintain historical records by documenting programming development and revisions. Perform regular maintenance on computer programs, website and software packages. Collaborate with functional areas to ensure programs meet project, organizational and regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Requirement Analysis
Applicants should have a minimum of an undergraduate degree or college diploma, or 1-3 years of relevant experience with significant job-related training. The ideal candidate will possess previous experience with frontend and backend web development (HTML5, CSS, Javascript/Node.js, REST). Further, the successful candidate will possess experience developing SQL queries. Knowledge/comfort working with Git and developing in a Linux Environment (Debian/Ubuntu) is preferred. The ability to learn new tools, processes, and languages is also essential in the Developer position. Asset qualifications include experience with Amazon Web Services, Serverless Architectures, Perl, and Apache.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Requirement Analysis
- Collaborate with users, functional experts to define and document requirements to create/maintain programming code for websites, databases and other systems, internal and external website solutions, mobile applications and/or business workflow tools and user required reports in a timely manner in accordance with the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
- Design, develop, generate workflow charts and diagrams, program code, test scripts and documentation.
- Conduct basic and scenario-based testing to resolve errors and functionality issues, technical and user reports during the implementation of new and improvements to existing applications and solutions.
- Work with management and technical personnel to identify improvement opportunities through software development and enhancement.
- Conduct periodic reviews of systems, solutions and reports for performance, security and control, tool/solution capability, integration, compatibility, efficiency, capacity, and scalability.
- Working with other functional experts, identify and recommend opportunities for improvement.
- Perform or direct the revision, repair, or expansion of existing systems to improve efficiency or adapt to new requirements. Where appropriate provide training and/or guidance to peers/users.
- Develop documentation for system management and administration including the writing and maintenance of systems and software technical requirements, solutions, revisions, testing/troubleshooting, and user-friendly work instructions ensuring when appropriate programmer comments are included in coding instructions.
- Participate in the evaluation of new technology, systems, solutions, and system integration.
- As the Programming expert, assist with installation, configuration and testing of hardware and software workflow.
