Permanent Full Time 

 

The Senior Business Operations Specialist plays a key role within the Advisor Compensation and Support Team, reporting to the Associate Manager. This position provides advanced analytical support, process oversight, automation, investigation, and reporting for Contracting and Compensation functions and business partners. 

The role requires strong expertise in Microsoft Access and SQL, as core compensation processes are executed within Access and involve reading, updating, and validating SQL queries. The incumbent must demonstrate exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to review data outcomes, investigate irregularities, and ensure accurate compensation execution. 

 

What you will do:

  • Participation in corporate projects that may involve system or process changes  

  • Perform complex calculations and accuracy checks associated with compensation and bonus programs

  • Develop subject matter expertise in bonus compensation programs 

  • Investigate compensation inquiries, reconcile data inconsistencies, identify root causes, and recommend resolutions 

  • Demonstrate agility in learning, applying new skills, and contributing innovative solutions aligned with organizational vision and values 

  • Act as a liaison to departmental and divisional partners to resolve issues and recommend enhancements 

  • Identify, prioritize, and support process improvement opportunities 

  • Provide ad-hoc analytical support, investigations, data validation, and reporting 

  • Execute recurring operational processes and reporting activities 

  • Develop and execute acceptance test plans to support technology and process deliverables 

  • Work independently and collaboratively to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail 

  • Apply logic, analytical reasoning, and sound judgement to assess outcomes and support decision-making 

 

What you will bring:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in compensation or a related analytical role 

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Business Administration, Compensation, or an equivalent combination of education and experience 

  • Advanced analytical capabilities and investigative mindset, with the ability to interpret large data sets, identify anomalies, and resolve discrepancies 

  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Access, including ability to read and update SQL queries 

  • Proficiency in Excel, with working knowledge of Word and PowerPoint 

  • Proven ability to plan, organize, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated accuracy in deliverables 

  • Working knowledge of Canada Life distribution structures and field compensation elements is an asset

The base salary for this position is between  $56,900.00 - $99,700.00 annually.  This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).  If you are selected to move forward in our recruitment process, your recruiter will be able to discuss additional details of our total rewards program with you.
