Job Description Summary (Future Hires Include)

Designs, develops, troubleshoots and debugs software programs for software enhancements and new products. Develops software tools including operating systems, compilers, routers, networks, utilities, databases and Internet-related tools. Determines hardware compatibility and/or influences hardware design. Develops software applications, user interfaces, databases and embedded software. Considers software architecture to include networked applications and interactions within a system. Imaging Engineering roles that design and develop medical diagnostic and clinical instrumentation, equipment, and procedures, using the principles of engineering and bio-behavioral sciences should be assigned to this job family. Roles with responsibility for cloud architecture should be assigned to this job family. Jobs that provide engineering technical support in this field should be assigned to this job family.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Works closely with our Software Applications and Research associates, and other functions to design and develop Mass spectrometer software products and capabilities with focus on instrument control and drive development.
• Analyzes problems to deliver creative, logical, and effective solutions using good design principles that satisfy functional and non-functional requirements.
• Works with off-site development teams to ensure development process and product alignment during project execution.
• Committed to on-time delivery and high quality
• Implements software modules and unit tests and conducts appropriate module testing.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 8+ years’ experience in designing and developing applications using OOP/OOD with at least 5 years of experience in C#/.NET. Experience with C++ or other OO languages an asset.
• 3+ years’ experience with developing device control software/drive (above Firmware).
• Degree in Computer Science or Engineering.
• Experience with design and implementation of n-tier systems, reusable libraries and development frameworks.

Additional desired (not mandatory) qualifications:

• Experience with developing Instrument control software for Mass Spectrometers or LC’s is an asset.
• Experience with working/interfacing with Analytical devices is desirable.
• Prior experience of working with offshore development teams is desirable.
• Experience with agile methodologies, test driven development, Domain specific languages, distributed data management.
• Experience with developing software for life sciences or medical device products.
