We are looking for a Director, Technical Solutions - Delivery Supply Chain.

 

Given the size and scope of our organization, we have the flexibility for this position to be located in the following head office locations: Montreal, Toronto, London, Winnipeg. 

 

Role description 

The Director, Technical Solutions - Delivery Supply Chain will work closely with our platform engineering, integration enablement and digital assurance solutions teams as well as business partners to create an enterprise delivery supply chain strategy and governance framework, driving forward improvements and modernization in our ways of working.

 

By helping lead automation in our processes, you will work to reduce friction in the delivery process and provide responsive and continuous service to our customers. You will be responsible for development of the “delivery supply chain as a product paradigm” and the ongoing enhancement of the delivery supply chain capabilities. You will manage and maintain processes and improvements to support and evolve the overall Canada Life technology roadmap.?You will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery supply chain lifecycle, aligning to best practices in collaboration with product, DevOps, and architecture. You will maintain a high degree of technical and business acumen related to your product to effectively contribute to the architecture and overall lifecycle of the solution.  

 

What you will do 

  • Oversee the roadmap, including architecture, development, and implementation 
  • Lead a cross-functional team to deliver product solutions that meet business requirements and engineering specifications
  • Drive platform automation and engineering improvements that will accelerate delivery, increase quality, and reduce maintenance and change fail rates 
  • Ensure platform instrumentation is in place for proactive monitoring and responsive incident triage and resolution 
  • Implement and maintain process automation and engineering best practices, standards, and guidelines  
  • Drive a?high-performance?culture for staff and promote culture changes within the organization 
  • Build strong and trusted relationships with internal and external partners ie: third party vendors where applicable 
  • Manage risk and compliance in accordance with Canadian and Global standards. Ensure alignment/ adherence to Enterprise technology standards, vendor management standards, and risk standards.?? 
  • Focus on continuous learning and professional development 
  • Drive an agile mindset within the team that measures progress over perfection 
  • Hold yourself and your team accountable to contribute to the overall digital modernization of the organization 
  • Ensure solutions are enhanced, secured and upgraded to evolve the roadmap 
  • Identify and invest in opportunities (processes, training, systems) to enhance individual and team effectiveness?  

 

What you will bring 

  • Post Secondary education in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent combination of training and experience
  • 5+ years experience in engineering/technology leadership position
  • Proven experience in with one or more of Azure, GCP and AWS 
  • Drives results and changes processes to improve performance; creates a culture of accountability 
  • Has a bias to action 
  • Ability to use knowledge of industry, business and systems to solve business problems 
  • Solid understanding of delivery enablement techniques such as automated testing and automated deployments 
  • Strong understanding of industry best practices 
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain collaborative business relationships 
  • Able to pivot and quickly change direction in response to changing priorities 
  • Experience coaching and mentoring technical practitioners 
  • Strong communication, collaboration and relationship building skills 
  • Experience working in financial services industry an asset
