Mechanical Engineer/Specialist - Design Engineering

Key Job Elements and Responsibilities: 

• Complete component level design tasks while keeping supervisor regularly inform on progress and issues encountered. Ensure all designs are peer reviewed by technical lead or assigned mentor
  • Areas of focus:
    • Mechanical/structural design engineering of hull structure, doors, hatches and grilles and integration of applique armour systems to meet customer requirements and specifications; or
    • Propulsion systems including power pack, engines, transmission, cooling, fuel, pneumatics, hydraulics, mission equipment; or
    • Hull Stowage, Covers, Guards and Access Panels (CGAP), AFES, NBC, Windshield and Washing Systems, Seats, Workstations, and unique interior mission equipment
• Support test planning, execution, and reporting as assigned and under supervision of test lead
• Provide status to supervisor on progress of tasks
• Share insights and ideas for improvement with supervisor. Support improvement initiatives as requested
• Identify opportunities for self development.  Raise ideas to supervisor attention
• Support quality and RCCA related activities as requested

Required Qualifications: 

• University degree or College Diploma in relevant engineering discipline
• 3 to 5 years relevant engineering experience
• Superior oral and written communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
• Project Management experience
• Ability to travel (5% Cdn) and (5% US & International) and possess/be able to acquire and maintain a valid passport
• Must be able to meet Anthropometrical Size Requirements for confined space

Preferred Experience: 

• Designing in Unigraphics (UG)
• Competent in analyzing Finite Element Analysis (FEA)

• Proficiency with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
• Ability to understand and review to GDLS-C drawing standards.
• P. Eng. or ability to obtain P. Eng designation
• Proficient with GDLS-C processes and products
