POSITION SUMMARY

Provides location or geography-based HR support and guidance to our employees and leaders on a wide variety of front-line HR issues, including implementation of critical HR processes. Primary focus is on employee relations related matters. Serves as a strong partner in solving people related issues requiring decision making skills and solid judgment to contribute to a high performance culture. The HRM is expected to execute on the following key deliverables:

 

  • Coach and consult employees and leaders on critical HR processes as needed (e.g., staffing initiatives, onboarding, performance management, development planning, rewards planning, policy interpretation); serve as a local extension of HR Business Partners to ensure desired outcomes are met; Provide recommendations on day to day problems and issues, escalating complex HR issues.
  • Serve as a subject matter in employee relations to conduct investigations and lead cases to effective closure; Advise managers on appropriate corrective actions up to and including employee terminations
  • Conduct exit interviews and review people analytics to recommend/ implement actions to proactively address and improve hot spot areas
  • Recommend revisions to policies and practices to align with best practice, make CDK a great place to work and to maintain compliance
  • Serve as a business partner to local employees re: career growth – provide personalized advice on building having effective development conversations and creating actionable plans, developing their personal brand, etc.
  • Stay abreast of market conditions and ensures compliance with all federal, state and local employment laws; proactively partner with COEs to address issues (e.g., hot talent markets/ compensation and benefits trends in a geography) 
  • Bring site leaders together to drive a unified site people strategy that aligns with functional people strategies; Would include working with a site/ geography-based leadership team to:
    • Review trends/ key people metrics and discuss/ address improvement opportunities at the location/ geography
    • Enhance productivity across locations for geographically dispersed teams
    • Drive progress against engagement action plans at the site level (inclusive of diversity and inclusion/ Business Resource Group initiatives, local engagement committee/ community initiatives)
    • Help communicate key business updates/ strategy/ leadership messages to the field; serve as communications change champions/ ambassadors
    • Create and drive change management plans to drive major changes at the site level (e.g., restructuring, site closures, major policy changes, etc.)
    • Reinforce and support talent development and succession action plans in partnership with the HR Business Partners within a site/ geography
    • Provide other support as needed based on volume of work/ business need (e.g., project teams, support Business Partner work)
    • Partners and provide support to the HR Centers of Excellence (Compensation and Benefits, HR Communications, HR Operations, and Talent) including annual processes

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • A minimum of 4 years of knowledge and experience in employee relations, employee engagement, and employee development
  • Strong credible HR resource to business leaders; comfortable challenging them as needed to drive the best outcomes for the organization
  • Excellent organizational, decision making and proactive skill set
  • Evidence of the ability to practice and coach managers with a high level of confidentiality
  • Outstanding interpersonal relationship building and employee coaching skills
  • General knowledge of various employment laws and practices
  • Ability to mentor/ coach other team members (this position has one direct report)
  • Strong written and spoken communication skills
  • Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment; Must include knowledge of Excel and skills in Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS)
  • Experience with recognition and engagement programs and processes
