Agile Product Owner
 

What you’ll be doing

The Agile Product Owner is a key member of the Agile Team who is excited by and advocates for the product vision in the organization. They will work closely with leadership and business to understand requirements, define the roadmap and backlog, and ensures that the Agile Team delivers business value with each iteration.

The Product Owner collaborates with a wide variety of stakeholders, with the goal of defining product vision, strategy, and schedule. They partner with the development team to prioritize the product backlog, maximizing the delivery of business valued items first.

 

You will be responsible for…

  • Collaborate with various internal and external stakeholders to identify change opportunities.
  • Define, prioritize, and maintain a well-organized product backlog that aligns with the organization's vision, goals, and objectives.
  • Ensure clear communication and alignment between stakeholders, development teams, and other Product Owners to effectively manage expectations, risks, and dependencies.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, sprint review, and retrospectives to foster a culture of continuous improvement and to adapt product development efforts based on feedback and changing priorities.
  • Act as the voice of the customer, ensuring that user stories are clearly defined, understood, and prioritized to deliver maximum value to the end users and stakeholders.
  • Track and report on key performance indicators, such as product quality, team velocity, and return on investment, to support data-driven decision-making and to continuously improve product development efforts.

 

What we need from you

  • You are a highly motivated and experienced Agile Product Owner with a strong background in business analysis and familiarity with Agile tools and technologies, such as Jira, Confluence, or similar platforms.
  • Completion of a Diploma/Degree in Business Systems, Information Technology, Business Analysis, Project Management, or similar discipline
  • Certified SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework) Product Owner/Product Manager or equivalent Agile certification.
  • At least 3-5 years of experience as a Business Analyst, with a proven track record of evolving into a Product Owner role.
  • Demonstrated experience working in an Agile software development environment.
  • Familiarity with core Agile events such as Stand-ups, Iteration Planning, Iteration Reviews, and Retrospectives.
  • Strong ability to collaborate cross-functionally with product owners, testers, and other stakeholders and advocate for and practice continuous integration, continuous delivery, Test Driven Development (TDD) and Behaviour Driven Development (BDD).
  • Demonstrated experience in guiding organizations through the transition from a waterfall approach to Agile methodologies for software development.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong communication skills, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to balance competing priorities and make informed decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in guiding organizations through the transition from a waterfall approach to Agile methodologies for software development.
  • You are passionate about change and put the delivery experience, its processes, and ceremonies at the center of everything you do.
