Job Description

Back End Developer

Are you a Senior Back End Web Developer who is ready to build something cool?

Then bring your 5+ years of experience to the largest network of social properties around the globe - Diply. We have 130M fans across Lifestyle, Entertainment, DIY and Crafts, Parenting, and more for you to unleash your talents in managing a diverse team of content creators to produce a wide range of content - editorial, video & visual design - for all of our social brands that drive the engagement of our audiences and generate millions of daily visits to our site.

You might know us best for some of our social brands: Diply, Crafty, Mommy Needs Vodka, Aunty Acid and Diply Facts!.

Diply is looking for someone to be the connector. You will be responsible for the interchange of data between our databases, servers, administrative tools and users. You’ll work closely with our IT Cloud Architect on maximizing configurations and the occasional architecture design. Additionally, you will be responsible for integrating the application’s front-end elements, so an adequate understanding of front-end technologies is also necessary.

What Skill Set Should You Have?

You need to be curious and determined enough to learn new technologies and languages, like the Diply team did when they switched from AWS-Azure to Google Cloud.

You must also be confident in your development skills.

From a tech standpoint, you have helped maintain and/or scale the back-ends of web-based software using technologies like:

Linux and Bash scripting
Javascript
Node.js
Typescript
Any cloud platform
Any continuous integration tech
Google Cloud Platform
React
Firebase
Docker

You’re also fully fluent with common web development tools such as Visual Studio, Babel, Webpack, NPM, and Git.

What Experience is Required?

All that being said, it’s you would be a really perfect match if you have:

  • Been in a senior role on at least a web-based project from inception to launch.
  • Maintained and troubleshot a website that has scaled to at least 1,000 DAU (the more, the better) for several months, fixing optimization, improving database performance via query optimization, and dealing with server instance / cloud management and/or caching.
  • But if you haven’t but feel confident you are good enough to pick it up apply anyway.

EXTRA

Great, passionate developers often have personal projects. We want to see them! Please link us your github or any kind of portfolio that showcases your best work if you have one.
