We are seeking a dynamic Software Development Team Leader to lead our team of software developers in designing, developing, delivering, and maintaining Sagacity’s software solutions. This position requires a combination of requirements analysis, agile project coordination, technical expertise, and skills mentoring.
Reporting to a Development Manager, the day-to-day tasks involve defining requirements and specifications, leading daily agile scrums, resolving technical roadblocks, collaborating with other departments such as QA and support, and driving the day-to-day development schedule to ensure that our software products are delivered on time and meet customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide team leadership, mentoring, and day to day guidance to the software development team to implement the objectives of the Development Manager.
- Communicate clear expectations and regular feedback to team members set by the Development Manager.
- Set daily goals for the team members and ensure that they are aligned with the company's overall strategy.
- Lead by example through hands-on technical contributions to the development team’s efforts.
- Assist in architectural decisions, code reviews, and ensuring adherence to coding standards.
- Translate business requirements into technical requirements, by communicating with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Regularly communicate project status, updates, and challenges to your Development Manager and stakeholders.
- Manage the day-to-day software development lifecycle, from project initiation to deployment and delivery
- In collaboration with Development Manager and stakeholders, define and document project requirements, goals, and deliverables.
- Drive defined project schedules, ensuring timely delivery of milestones and products.
- Identify project risks, proactively addressing potential roadblocks.
- Evaluate and refine development processes to enhance efficiency, quality, and team productivity.
- Select best practices, tools, and methodologies to better streamline development and ensure consistent code quality.
- Identify opportunities for automation and optimization to increase development speed and reliability.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including IoT and Communications R&D, Quality Assurance (QA), Support, Data, and Security Teams and other stakeholders on product delivery and meeting customer requirements.
- Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture that encourages knowledge sharing and professional growth.
Qualifications:
- Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 2 years experience leading software development, with demonstrated success
- A strong grasp of various programming languages, frameworks, and technologies.
- Strong understanding of software development methodologies (Agile, Scrum, etc.) and best practices.
- Ability to define and maintain project plans and schedules.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams, such as R&D, testing, support, and technical sales.
- Experience with collaborative version control systems and project management tools such as Bitbucket, Git, and Jira.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make well-informed decisions under pressure.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience as a Scum Master
- Agile mythologies certifications or credentials
- Mentoring or Leadership certifications or credentials
- Familiarity with cloud-based development platforms, such as AWS.
