The Faculty of Creative Industries (FoCI) is a dynamic and growing learning enterprise within Fanshawe. Embracing the College’s Innovation Village signature learning initiative, FoCI is leading the way for collaborative, industry- and community- driven partnerships that integrate all four schools into progressive, learning experiences and opportunities. Comprised of the Schools of DesignContemporary MediaDigital and Performing Arts, and Tourism, Hospitality and Culinary Arts, the Faculty serves over 3,500 students annually in a diverse range of leading-edge, “signature” diploma, graduate certificate and collaborative degree programs. FoCI is home to an array of enthusiastic, creative and award- winning faculty, staff and students. Through the collaborative energy, efforts and talents of its various Schools and key industry and community partners, FoCI has successfully launched a number of highly creative and entrepreneurial initiatives and partnerships, including: the Fanshawe College Botanical Gardens; the Good Foundation Inc. Theatre; The Chef’s Table; and the Film Office in concert with the London Economic Development Corporation.


The Dean of the Faculty of Creative Industries will continue the excitement of internationally recognized achievements, programs, and partnerships with local as well as global creative industries to enable exceptional and innovative learning experiences for students. Reporting to the SVP Academic, the Dean will provide effective academic and administrative leadership to the Associate Deans, faculty, staff and students in each of the academic schools working to instill a globally diverse outlook to meet student and employer needs, while bringing alignment to the College’s strategic goals and vision. Working collaboratively with other academic leaders across the College, the Dean will model an interdisciplinary approach to student success, while seeking innovative partnerships and creative ventures, supporting the community and the College.
Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of a Master’s degree, preferably in a relevant discipline, along with several years of progressive academic leadership and management experience from within a complex and dynamic post-secondary environment. Strategic, creative and collaborative, the ideal candidate will be committed to working with other academic leaders across the institution to support interdisciplinary excellence and enhance a culture of collaboration and innovation. Effective relationship- and partnership-building experience as well as demonstrated commitment to advancing learning technologies, student success and academic excellence is considered important. Exceptional communication, interpersonal skills, and creating a culture that supports a high-performance team environment will be essential.
