Intermediate Accountant - Billing & Collections
Autodata has a current opportunity for an Intermediate Staff Accountant - Billing & Collections to complete a 12 to 14 month Limited Term position. Position Overview:
The Staff or Intermediate Accountant – Billing and Collections will work as part of the revenue and billing team at that is responsible for the billing, cash receipts, and the revenue recognition process. The candidate will be a quick learner and be able comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. As there is a collection component to this role, the candidate should be comfortable with external customer communications and all aspects of an accounts receivable collection’s role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyzes contracts to initiate and perform the billing, accounts receivable and cash collection processes
- Maintain and reconciles revenue, revenue reports and spreadsheets
- Analyze aged accounts receivables to identify potential collection issues. Follow up directly with customers to arrange payments and determine status of accounts. Maintain analysis around aged and delinquent accounts.
- Responsible for resolving issues affecting billing and collections and escalating issues as appropriate
- Prepare journal entries and reconciliations, participate in month end close process as well as the annual audit
- Must be detail-oriented and execute with a high-level of accuracy
- Can adapt to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Independently tracks and maintains list of outstanding tasks, information, and follow up items
- Prepare analysis and reports as well as ad hoc projects
- Ability to collaborate and communicate with multidisciplinary teams
- General knowledge of business processes, management, and business office operations
- Adherence to corporate policies and procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- University degree or College diploma in Accounting / Business
- 0-5+ years’ experience working in accounting/finance
- Completion or pursuit of a professional accounting designation (CPA – CA, CMA, CGA) considered an asset but not required
- Knowledge and experience with accounting systems would be an asset
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft office and Excel (advanced formulas, pivot tables etc.) required
- Excellent communication, customer service orientation and problem-solving skills
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to execute with a high level of accuracy
- Ability to analyze, evaluate and problem solve scenarios
- Ability to set and manage multiple priorities
- Must be able to work independently and be a team-player
- Self-motivated and flexibility to adapt to new roles and change as the company grows
