Business Development Associate
Position Summary
The Business Development Associate will be responsible for identifying potential clients, researching target markets, initiating outreach, qualifying leads, and booking meaningful sales conversations for senior leadership. This role is ideal for someone who is proactive, organized, curious, and comfortable starting conversations with new prospects.
The successful candidate will play an important role in building our sales pipeline and helping the company grow. You will work closely with leadership to understand our ideal clients, communicate our value proposition, and create a structured process for developing new business opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Research target companies, industries, contacts, and market opportunities.
- Build and maintain prospect lists aligned with the company’s ideal customer profile.
- Conduct outbound outreach through email, phone, LinkedIn, networking, and other channels.
- Qualify prospects based on fit, need, timing, budget, and decision-making authority.
- Book discovery meetings and introductory calls for senior leadership.
- Prepare briefing notes before sales meetings.
- Track all prospecting activity, conversations, follow-ups, and opportunity stages in the CRM.
- Support follow-up after meetings, events, campaigns, and referrals.
- Collaborate with leadership to refine messaging, target markets, and outreach strategies.
- Monitor industry trends, procurement opportunities, competitor activity, and potential partnerships.
- Support proposal coordination and sales administration where needed.
- Provide regular reporting on outreach activity, pipeline progress, conversion rates, and market feedback.
- Help create a repeatable and scalable business development process.
Success Measures

- Quality and accuracy of CRM records.

Qualifications
Minimum 3+ years of experience in business development, sales, lead generation, account coordination, customer success, marketing, or a related role. Preferably in the tech space.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable reaching out to new contacts and starting business conversations.
- Highly organized and disciplined with follow-up.
- Ability to learn technical or service-based offerings and communicate value clearly.
- Experience using CRM systems is a necessity.
- Experience with LinkedIn, email outreach, networking, or prospect research is an asset.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Professional, persistent, and resilient.
- Curious, coachable, and motivated by measurable goals.
- Ability to work independently in a growing company environment.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in B2B sales or professional services.
- Experience selling or supporting technical, engineering, compliance, software, construction, industrial, or consulting services.
- Experience selling in the defense sector or government adjacent businesses is helpful.
- Familiarity with long sales cycles and relationship-based sales.
- Experience supporting trade shows, industry events, proposals, or partner development.
- Knowledge of CRM tools (especially Tracquer).
