Hardware Engineering Manager

ZTR is hiring an experienced and passionate, Manager of Hardware Engineering to manage and build upon ZTR’s hardware portfolio of Telematics product solutions.

Reporting to the CTO, the Manager of Hardware Engineering will have a mix of direct and indirect reports and will bring years of Product Design experience leading teams to mass product development.

As the Manager of Hardware Engineering, you will:

• Grow and develop the IIoT Hardware Engineering Team through informal mentoring, feedback and formal performance reviews.
• Provide strategic guidance, vision and leadership on ZTR’s hardware designs and processes.
• Manage the design, test and implementation of ZTR’s telematics hardware portfolio.
• Be responsible for electrical circuit designs, PCB design and mechanical enclosures forming complete IoT product assemblies.
• Work with cross functional teams to execute ZTR’s Hardware Roadmap and support Innovation and R&D efforts.
• Work with contract manufacturers, vendors, and suppliers to transform new product designs into mass production.
• Ensure quality of design utilizing best-in-class design processes, manual and automation testing, product reviews and customer feedback, working directly with embedded quality control engineers.
• Provide reports and presentations on cost management, efficiency and quality.
• Participate in customer meetings and various presentations.
• Assist Procurement in the sourcing, selection and management of vendor relationships.
• Manage existing product portfolio ensuring continuous production capability and EOL monitoring of all components.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelors Degree in Computer or Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
• 10+ years experience in product circuit design and product development.
• 5+ years leadership experience of managing design teams, engineers, technologists and technicians.
• Experience in mass volume product development including Electrical Circuit Design, PCB Design, Mechanical Design, CAD and other tools.
• Experience in dealing with off-shore contract manufacturing of PCBs and assemblies.
• Knowledge and experience in the certification processes needed for RF product design and product safety. (Examples: FCC, IC, CE, PTCRB..)
• Experience in implementing design processes for efficiency and quality.
• Experience working closely with Software Engineering teams.
• Experience in documentation, reporting and efficiency monitoring.
• Excellent coaching and mentoring skills with the ability to provide cross-training to peers, supervisors, and direct reports.
• Strong ability to communicate effectively with engineering team members, Software developers, IT professionals, Senior Executives, the Customer, and non-technical stakeholders.
• Team focused mindset, with seasoned leadership skills to coordinate efforts towards a common goal
