Graphics Platemaker: Photopolymer Operator / Die Mounter / Etcher/Vulcanizer
Full-time: Monday to Friday
Department: Graphics/ Manufacturing
Reports to: Director of Manufacturing
Purpose of the Role:
  • Manufacturing photopolymer, rubber, silicone, and magnesium plates according to specifications.
  • Planning and managing project timelines and schedules effectively.
  • Completing and maintaining accurate reports and paperwork for ongoing projects.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, potential clients, and employees.
  • Performing routine maintenance on machinery to ensure optimal functionality.

Results Areas of Position:
  • Manufacture high-quality photopolymer, rubber, silicone, and magnesium plates according to specifications and work orders.
  • Plan and manage project timelines effectively, ensuring efficient use of resources and meeting deadlines.
  • Complete and maintain accurate records and reports for ongoing projects.
  • Foster strong relationships with clients, potential clients, and colleagues.
  • Ensure all machinery and equipment are properly maintained, calibrated, and functioning optimally.

Qualifications:
  • Working knowledge of flexographic printing and processes.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic computer skills with experience in graphic design programs.
  • Mechanical aptitude and proactive problem-solving skills (an asset).
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively with staff.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, multi-department environment with multiple tasks.
  • Flexibility in working hours and reliable attendance.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to lift 20-60lbs with good coordination.
  • Background security check required.


Activities & Tasks:
  • Prepare and vulcanize rubber/silicone plates according to customer specifications and yellow dockets, and grind plates as needed.
  • Produce high-quality photopolymer plates for liquid and sheet systems, and magnesium plates, meeting customer specifications.
  • Set up and maintain equipment, performing routine maintenance tasks.
  • Perform tasks such as changing washout systems, acid baths, rolls, and inks as required.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Order materials and supplies as needed, and record and submit reports.
  • Follow up with customers to ensure satisfaction and resolve issues.
  • Keep management informed and submit reports as required.
  • Collaborate positively with colleagues and contribute to a team-oriented environment.
  • Assist with quoting special proposals and accompany field sales calls when needed.
  • Able to lift 20-60lbs up to heights of 36”.
