Electronics Hardware Engineer - Contract (1 year)

Position Summary

An entry-level individual who designs, prototypes and tests power electronics for ultraviolet light sources in support of Engineering and Product Development initiatives for water and wastewater treatment equipment. Works as part of a team in a collaborative environment to develop and maintain technologies for products. These products treat water and wastewater for over one billion people globally.

 

Accountabilities

  • Fully mature in the role, they independently execute small projects and tasks with some oversight, use discipline-specific analytical tools at a journeyman level, and manage their own work.
  • Assist with the design of power electronics for ultraviolet light sources, working under the supervision of a senior design specialist 
  • Analyze, select and apply conversion topologies and control circuits for Power circuit design 
  • Design and specify magnetic devices 
  • Prototype?and test power?electronic assemblies
  • Design and develop products according to safety agency and EMC requirements 
  • Assist with mechanical packaging and design for electronic assemblies 
  • Support thermal design, analysis and testing 
  • Conduct predicted and demonstrated reliability analysis and studies 
  • Create and maintain documentation including schematic, bills of materials and drawings
  • Create technical reports for test performed
  • Perform troubleshooting of electronic assemblies, providing input to failure analysis 
  • Assist in the design, construction and deployment of test fixtures 
  • Use programming tools to program and debug micro-controller devices 
  • Use design and product failure mode effects analysis tools 
  • Perform electronic device stress analysis and measurement 
  • Work collaboratively on design for fabrication and design for assembly

Qualifications

  • BS Electrical Engineering / MS Electrical Engineering or equivalent education + experience 
  • Experience (1+ years) in electronics component-level design, this may be post education, as an intern or as a hobbyist
  • Some understanding of switching power conversion topologies and control methods  
  • Familiar with selection and application of magnetic devices 
  • Knowledge of design for safety and EMC requirements 
  • Experienced in PC based CAD: schematic capture and printed circuit board design 
  • Some experience with application of micro-controllers  
  • Some experienced in prototyping and testing of electronic board assemblies.
