The base salary will be $70,560 - $83,000 per annum. Starting salary will be aligned with the successful candidate’s experience, skills, and demonstrated qualifications.

Western Continuing Studies (WCS) is the educational bridge between Western University and the global community. Responsibilities
The Educational Developer will participate in planning, developing, implementing and evaluating both new and ongoing programs and services to support teaching excellence for Western’s English Language Centre portfolio within Western Continuing Studies. The Educational Developer will collaborate in the development of discipline-specific programs, as well generalized programs to support student learning. The Educational Developer will be a resource to instructors in the area of needs assessment, program design, curriculum development and evaluation to ensure that courses meet the identified learning needs of instructors and learners. The Educational Developer will provide expert consultation to ensure that curricular revisions and educational developments are informed by best practice in teaching and learning.
Qualifications
Education:
- Master’s Degree in Education, Adult Education, or a related field
- Preferred:
- Professional Certification in area of focus; PhD in Education, Adult Education, or related field
- TESOL or other English as an Additional Language certification
Experience:
- 3 years’ teaching experience at the University level; experience developing, implementing, and coordinating instructional development programs and processes
- Experience in program evaluation and project management is preferred
- Experience in English as an Additional Language curriculum development and instruction would be an asset
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- In-depth knowledge of instructional design methods to deliver instructional programs and courses
- In-depth knowledge of adult learning principles
- In-depth knowledge of needs assessment methods
- Knowledge of E-Learning principles, strategies and tools
- Familiarity with educational technologies, and outcome-based curriculum design
- Familiarity with University policies and procedures preferred
- Ability to quickly research, evaluate and advise on the viability of new technologies and innovations learning
- Ability to work with a variety of instructors subjects and teaching styles
- Ability to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of courses based on best practices and evaluations from students and instructors
- Openness to recognize when change is necessary, and to develop, implement and lead effective change management strategies
- Ability to collaborate across internal and external boundaries to meet common objectives, improve outcomes and support work beyond one's own unit
- Ability to effectively present information, and conduct training sessions and workshops
- Ability to work in a manner that models best practices in confidentiality standards
- Innovative and flexible critical thinking skills to adjust to and implement new processes or technology to the University’s advantage
- Ability to understand customer needs and expectations and provide excellent customer service to directly and indirectly satisfy expectations
- Ability to handle details with a high degree of accuracy and to organize and prioritize a high volume of work to meet deadlines
- A desire to grow and advance skills, which is demonstrated by attending conferences, workshops and other professional developmental opportunities to enhance performance
- Ability to display a blend of diplomacy and persistence to achieve goals while working collaboratively
- Computer skills with the ability to creatively use and integrate technology to improve quality and productivity
- Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite
- Influential interpersonal skills that build positive and strong relationships at all levels of the organization

- Ability to work independently and effectively as a member of the team to achieve department goals
