Doubting how important concept artists are? Cave paintings were concept art for all of civilization!

Due to Joydrop’s ongoing growth spurt, our studio is looking for talented and prolific concept artists to set the tone for our client’s ambitious online game world. If you have unique visions of the end of civilization and the artistic muscle to make them (visually) come true, read on!

Job Responsibilities
  • Generate original concept art for characters, environments, props, and other assets that will determine the direction of the art for the entire game.
  • Collaborate with the art team and disseminate the intent behind your drawings, leading to the broader style and design of the game.
  • Play a pivotal part in the brainstorm/create/feedback loop with the Art Director, art team, and design team.
  • Contribute anything-but- undane ideas toward any and all aspects of the game’s production and development.
  • Stay current on the changing scope and direction of the project.
  • Multitask and prioritize incoming requests.
  • Required Skills and Experience
  • Super-strong 2D abilities.
  • A repertoire of varying artistic styles and genre mastery.
  • Possession of traditional art skills and an understanding of lighting, composition, color theory, atmosphere, materials, and textures.
  • Capability to create within a selected art style and deliver superior illustrations and production drawings.

Nice-to-Haves
  • Storyboarding experience.
  • Photoshop, Zbrush, or similar digital art software experience.
  • Background in video games or a similar industry.
