Joydrop is seeking a Senior 3D Character Artist to bring life to our latest game IP. This is preferably a full-time position, though we would consider other options for the right talent. If you have several years of video game art experience, have been around the pipeline a couple times, and possess knowledge of the Unreal Engine, keep reading!

Job Responsibilities
  • Infuse the game’s characters with life through modeling, texturing, and animating in 3D, while conforming to art direction, technical constraints, and production deadlines
  • Work with or without concept art to create high-poly and low-poly models for environments, props, and characters.
  • Use 3D sculpting software as needed for crafting models.
  • Bake high-poly details onto low-poly models and bake additional texture maps where needed
  • Unwrap models and create detailed textures that support PBR materials
  • Work with the technical artist to provide the necessary materials for importing assets into the project
  • Work with the art director to ensure that the assets work well with the game and adheres to the style
  • Create models that are high-quality, free of errors, and well-optimized for use in the project
  • Create sketches or speed-model concepts to communicate ideas with the art team
  • Create and rig low-poly character models that deform properly and work well with animation
  • Ensure the 3D characters are correctly implemented in game, meeting all quality standards
  • Work closely with production and art teams to maintain the consistency of the overall 3D art style
  • Produce work in any required style from high realism to heavily stylized
  • Actively provide feedback, quality improvements, and optimizations

Required Skills and Experience
  • 5+ years’ experience in interactive game or cinematic work
  • Skilled with Unreal 4/5 or Unity
  • Demonstrated ability with all software necessary to fulfill the above job responsibilities
  • An above-average understanding of working within a game engine and pipeline
  • Fully fluent in professional English, both verbal and written
